The concept of mental illness has always had sociopolitical consequences which has controlled how it is defined. If you want to advance an agenda, you can define mental illness in a way that helps you to advance your cause. The medical establishment is heavily dependent on government funding and bows to political pressure, so observing that this definition is promulgated by Mayo Clinic really doesn't score any debate points.

Like Autism, I think it is a developmental disability; a type of neurodivergence, not a mental illness. Homosexuality has been around through all of civilization as, probably, has Autism.

I'm not sure.. because like a lot of kids who get molested turn gay.. did something happen mentally to them as a child because of the things they experienced that put them on that course or would they have always turned out with that preference even if nothing happened to them?

No, I don't. Homosexuals are human beings just like everyone else. They're not hurting themselves or other people. They just have another sexual and romantic preference.

Yes and no. It all depends on how you define mental illness. The definition of mental illness has greatly expanded over the years. When I was young, it only meant serious stuff like schizophrenia. Nowadays, just about anything is called a mental illness. It's even become almost a fad to have a mental illness.

Is there something wrong mentally with homosexuality? Absolutely something is wrong. Is it a mental illness? Depends on how you define it.

It might be a mental disorder, but it's not detrimental to one's ability to live and contribute to society, so I couldn't care less. People can fuck who they want.
