Being a racist carriers a social cost mostly. Things like losing friends, being fired from your job or made fun of comes to mind. People do not like racists, and for good reasons. But if you want a personal reason why being a racist is bad then just the fact that only stupid people are racists sort of makes you shoot yourself in the foot.
