That's been happening for quite a while now. There are a few signs of that. First, is the fact that someone like Trump got elected. It's not odd that he won the general election, but it's definitely odd that he won the primary when he's not even a Republican or conservative.
Conservatives have been dissatisfied with Republican leadership for a long time. A lot of good Republicans retired in the early-mid 90s. They were replaced by a bunch of freshman who were not the same caliber as the ones they replaced. There were also a bunch of religious nut jobs who got elected.
The Republican Party had no good leadership. They were seen as weak. They weren't standing up to the Democrats the way they should have. They basically have let Democrats walk all over them for quite a while now, because they are too damn wimpy to do what needs to be done. They don't have hard-ball playing power brokers like the Democrats do. They're a bunch of wimps with no balls.
Trump was a desperation vote. People thought he might stand up to the Democrats and get the job done. He might have been able to if he had been allowed to do his job. He's a horrible candidate, but it was desperation.
Then there are the libertarians. They are basically Republicans who are dissatisfied with the direction the Republican Party was taking. The libertarians siphoned away enough Republican votes in 2020 to give the Democrats a win.
I distanced myself from the Republican Party over 25 years ago. That was when they had all the new blood who just weren't as good as the old guys. When they impeached Clinton I knew they had totally lost it. They set a precedence of using one of the most important parts of our system as a political tool, and as a tool for revenge. It started us down a slippery slope that led to the Democrats doing the same thing against Trump. That won't be the last time either. That flood gate has opened and it will be used over and over again.
In a way they have. That's why conservatives are so split. One problem is that conservatives by nature are not proactive. Liberals are the ones who are proactive and always trying to change things. Conservatives are generally not like that. Activism has always been the realm of liberals. It's practically built into the definition.
Why would they? They'd be playing right into the Democrats hands. I highly doubt they will rebel, would only make things worse for them and Trump. Jan 6th happened, but was a 1 off in my opinion. I've been seeing Republicans encouraging/urging other Republicans to stay home and not riot like BLM protesters.

I thought we already did that on January 6th. You know, the day democracy died. 😂 It was worse than 9/11!!! Worse than Pearl Harbor!!!

Ahem.
That’s been the Democrats and the Biden Administration’s official narrative.
So that’s what THEY think. You know, the morons you voted for.
