What is with the Republican Party nowdays?

In recent years, it feels like the GOP has been very focused on targeting human rights when it comes to abortion and the LGBT community in the U. S. There's also a growing trend among many republicans of no longer wanting to separate the church and state.

I'm aware that people have the right to not like the lifestyle of gay individuals and being a religious follower as long as it isn't used to justify harm or taken advantaged of in politics.

But this is quite the opposite of what beliefs are shared in conservative communities. I keep reading the news about red states that wants to keep implementing stricter abortion laws to the point where some have suggested the death penality for women doing abortions. Also that LBGT people are apparently just mentally ill pedophiles.

Why can't the GOP just focus on problems that America has been struggling with for decades rather than human rights that has helped LGBT people who previously struggled with mental illness and suicide because of stigmatization?

Alright then, most opinions so far has mostly not been as constructive as I had hoped, especially from the guys who just seems upset because I think abortions and homosexuality are human rights.

I wanna thank the ladies here who respects basic women and LBGT rights that are being threatened by radicalized elements in the United States.

At this point, I am aware of one person in the country who has made that suggestion but I don't know any other conservatives who support that position. There are leftists who think all white people whould be executed, but I would never characterize the left by citing such extreme views of a radical minority.

So there is NO mental illness among these peple in San Francisco or Portland or Seattle?

What exactly are you referring to?

Abortion is not and never has been a "human right," nor has it ever been implied in our constitution. Even supporters of abortion knew Roe and Dobbs were bad decisions and that an actual law would need to be passed to enshrine it, yet it never happened even though it would've been doable throughout the 90s and early 2000s. The supreme court rightly recognized this and stripped the federal government from having any say in the matter. When that happened, about half of prominent Republicans panicked because they would now be expected to actually act on this, when previously they could just do nothing and claim their hands were tied.

The only thing "anti LGBT rights" that the Republicans have pushed lately is banning gender reassignment surgery for minors, and a handful want it banned completely. This is gaining momentum because actual data refutes the claim that it reduces depression or suicide much if at all, and that it actually increases at roughly the 5 years post-surgery mark. Because it is an extremely lucrative business, surgeons are actively lying about the long term health risks to prospective patients too. They aren't "struggling with suicide because of stigmatization;" body dysmorphia, just like its closely related conditions, is a mental disorder that comes with extreme anxiety and/or depression regardless of circumstances, no matter how "supportive" or "affirming" people around them are. To pretend otherwise, and mistreat it like we are, does a huge disservice to the patient.

You talk about "problems America has struggled with for decades" but you don't think the total abandonment of both historical norms and established basic biology regarding both of these subjects in favor of a "just do what you think feels right" approach regardless of how it harms or destroys others is acceptable, like the Marquis de Sade? So what exactly is acceptable discourse in your view?

Well the GOP has long opposed civil rights and equality. Now they want to use the force of government to impose their version of morality on the public. When government restricts freedom, it’s to increase its own control over society. It’s rarely ever a good thing. The GOP is also becoming very hostile to voting rights and democracy. There are no good intentions behind that either.

From an outside perspective everything they are doing seems to be anti human right and anti human life. Maybe with the exception of the top 1% ultra rich people. Its also weird how people seem to vote for them because they want "freedom" when all they are doing is obviously the opposite.

It's not Republicans, who by, and large, have political erectile dysfunction. They settle for watered down Leftist/Democrat policies and then go on cruises to discuss Conservative theory, while they appease the Chamber of Commerce with cheap brown labor. I vote Republican only because I have no better choice. If Truman/Scoop Jackson Democrats still existed, I might cross parties.

If I were to attempt to label myself, I am a gun-toting, bible hugging Libertarian Patriot. So was fellow Celt, JFK. AND, he knew what sex HE was. We are hiding behind every rock (as Stalin used to say), biding our time., which will come when the economy finally collapses (within 10 years, maybe less) and the idiot Lefties and Neocons collaborate to start a new hot war.

Patriots strive to preserve the country of our founders, Declaration and Constitution and are more Chapter and Verse of them more than we even are with the Bible.

The Republican party nowadays is weak, stupid and useless. We have to hang with them to elect a few bright lights like Jim Jordan and the emerging Vivek Ramaswamy. Yes, indeed, Trump is one of ours, but it may be time for him to retire, play golf and eat Big Macs. We need new and hot blood. It may be DeSantis, but he may wait 4 years to strengthen his Street Cred. I see Trump/Ramaswamy in November 24. Ramaswamy and DeSantis will have to duel to see who has better ideas.

Abortion isn’t a human right. It’s not specifically outlined in the Constitution. AL THE GODDAMN SUPREME COURT SAID UT WE can't RULE ON IT! Because it ain’t in the CONSTITUTION! It’s up to the States!

This is the same Supreme Court that you Lefties heralded and championed for their wisdom when they approved gay marriage.

Yet oddly when they rule for something that gets you upset they are all political hacks. It’s the Republicans!!! They are to blame!
