Even the Trump hating New York Post believes it might. https://nypost.com/2023/04/03/alvin-braggs-indictment-of-donald-trump-might-open-a-pandoras-box-for-democrats/
Yes it is play stupid games win stupid prizes, Alvin Bragg given he is trying to reduce a trial for a crime that the federal government was not willing to go after shows political motivation and so now we will not have a president that does not go to jail, or at the very least indicted once they get out of office, it could go to senators it could go to representatives I doubt it’s gonna go that far but we will see you at the very least Joe Biden being indicted as well regardless, if he’s president or not. Usually ensure destruction is the keywords here
Yes, it will be open season on everyone. There are plenty of Republican DAs and local authorities to have a field day. I thin the Clintons will be first on the hit parade. I predict the jig will be up for the Biden;s too. Taking a million dollars from China will not be a fake made up charge that has no chance of going to trial.

All this brouhaha over nothing. If the exact same situation were happening to any other prominent businessman, none of this Republican outrage bullshit see any air time. The indictment of a President is a first, but so what? Trump's actions as President are NOT on trial here, though that will come later. This is about his business dealings and how it influenced campaign spending.
NO one has ever lowered the bar of the Office of the President like Trump did. Even Nixon and Agnew had the good sense to quit, and their list of crimes amount to selling Girl Scout cookies compared to Trump. So it's the first for the worst.
Teddy Roosevelt reminded us in 1918:
" The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile.
He then concluded by saying:
" To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."
IN MY OPINION, the only box this investigation is opening will be a box with some truth in it. Trump will not take the stand. You will never get to hear him plead the 5th over 450 times like he did with AG James. The next box that will be opened is the one by the Grand Jury in Georgia, and they will be naming names.
I think you're mixing up the New York Post with New York Times. NY post is basically Fox news print edition.
Personally, I didn't expect much and it's been pretty underwhelming anyway. There's no way they'd push this on anyone else, and even then, it's a massive hail Mary that is (so far) backfiring. I had originally thought this was a strategic move to prop up Trump as the candidate to beat in 2024, but I'm starting to think it's possible Bragg has just gone rogue and fancies himself a hero.
I don't think it will result in any kind of serious turnabout, because the Republican party is, and historically has been extremely weak on prosecuting government crime despite having multiple prominent members who are very good at exposing lies and corruption. The fact of the matter is they're scared to actually wield power, and have an obsession with always claiming the morale high road regardless of how strategically stupid it is to do so. If they had the stones for it, I'd say they absolutely should bring the hammer down- but if they were ever serious about justice, they wouldn't have let so much crap go over the last few decades without so much as a whimper. Sound bytes for campaigns are more important to them.
" I think you're mixing up the New York Post with New York Times. NY post is basically Fox news print edition." LOL I love this. True that !!! I once tried lining my litter box with the NY Post and the cat refused to shit in it !!
still the ny-post contained "even even the Washington Post thinks it’s a stretch" sided with trump. so same idea.
No, of course not - in the long run. It's a local issue and involves a civilian.
In the short run, there may be some stupid tit-for-tats, but, you need to understand something...
In all states and the Federal Government, there are entities that check on abusive prosecutors. Google "Malicious prosecution". Prosecutors and lawyers who abuse their powers or waste the court's time end up getting disciplined and may be disbarred meaning that they lose their job and can't practice law anymore.
There are a lot of checks and balances all throughout American society. That's a major reason why the US has thrived for 250 years.
Sadly, that is not the case. In the Duke lacrosse case, in spite of all the crimes he committed, Nifong only served one day in jail for lying about sharing DNA tests (criminal contempt). Basically, DA's, but not defense attorneys, have immunity whenever they violate the rules and the law.
I remember that case very well and that's the one I was thinking of too!
Good for you for citing that!
But, look what happened... Nifong was disciplined. More than a day in jail (for contempt of court), he was DISBARRED.
This is what I am talking about - he lost his living! That's like being in jail, but, in some ways, worse.
In jail, they feed you and give you health care.
Without a living, you become homeless real fast unless you get a new career in another profession.
That's MUCH WORSE.
Regardless of my belief that Nifong deserved prison time, you make an excellent case that his punishment was severe. However, apparently Nifong wasn't punished for the conviction of Darryl Howard, who was sentenced to eighty years for the 1991 strangling and sexual assault of a mother and daughter, was overturned. A judge found that Nifong failed to share evidence that pointed to other suspects with Howard’s attorneys.
How does this hurt or help trump? The New York post is a republican rag. It has always endorsed trump. The weird thing about trump supporters is how you delude yourselves into thinking everyone is a trump supporter.
If that were true, he would be President today. And he is not.
The folks who dislike trump, dislike him. Unless he can figure out how to articulate an actual ideology or vision for America, that's the way it will be. And the folks who worship him will always worship him, even if he eats a double-decker dog-poo sandwich.
That is the way we will go to the polls.
Not at all. Politicians in America are just a bunch of parasites and it doesn't matter whom gets in. They don't care about the American people, only themselves, corporate backers to their campaigns, special interest groups, and putting as much bullshit into their bills that wouldn't get passed by themselves. This new trial is just a media circus to distract people from Patriot Act 2.0 or the RESTRICT ACT. Basically, all of the charges they're bringing against Trump can go on all of them. Every career politician is a corrupt piece of garbage.
Strictly a political witch hunt. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Nancy Pelosi said that he should be allowed a chance to prove that he is innocent?
No, but even if that was the case I would argue that it is a good box to open. The very idea of there being an elite class above the rule of law is stupid.
The author is too stupid to know you need actual evidence to indict former presidents of crimes. and there's none for these reich wing conspiracy theories.
p. s. the ny post is owned by rupert murdoch and hardly trump hating.

I don't know.
No way. It's too late. We now live in a banana Republic. And the Low-T GOP won't fight back.
A woman on a similar site told me over a year ago that McCarthy would be worthless. I didn't believe her. She was right. If the Republican Congress wanted to redeem themselves, they would vote for term limits. One and done. Then they could sit back and watch the Senate Democrats vote against it.
I'm still trying to understand this. DA Bragg made a huge deal of emphasizing that Trump is facing 34 felony charges... and then let's him leave New York State and go home to Florida. For such a serious crime, any other person would be required to remain in the state.
DeSantis has already said he would not help with extraditing Trump to New York. If Trump stays out of New York State, there may never be a trial.
DeSantis’ bravado was mostly for show. He only has authority over state police. If a warrant was issued for Trump, he couldn’t block county or municipal police from picking him up. It’s unclear if he could even stop the state police. There’s really no hiding. The felonies are the lowest level under NY law and may ultimately end up being misdemeanors. These are financial crimes, there’s no risk to the public to let him return to Florida. This case isn’t all that serious. Georgia is where he might be in real trouble.
It was both easy and self-serving. If Trump were to refuse extradition, he would have to stay in Florida and could only campaign is states that have Republican Governors and AG's, lest he get taken into custody in a Democratic run state and then extradited. That would help DeSantis if he runs.
I believed it’s all part of a long game to get Trump the nomination because democratic elitist believe he’s the only GOP candidate walking corpse can beat.
The left is really more scared if Ron DeSantis. He’s young, tough and smart and thinks before he speaks. He sticks to his word and gets things done. He crushed the Florida gubernatorial election in what used to be a swing state.
Conservatives need to forget about Trump and get behind DeSantis.
Biden will not beat Trump again if Trump gets nominated. In 2020 Biden was the Obama Heir Apparent, not the abject failure he has proven himself to be. He also had the advantage of universal mail-in voting. How many millions who sat at home and voted for Biden in 2020 will be unwilling to stand in line in 2024? I have analyzed it and believe that universal mail-in is what actually put Biden over the top in the EC in 2020 - without it Trump would have won.
@LiamJHayden alright let’s say if Trump wins in 2024. Now what? He can only serve 4 more years.
I don't care either way. In 2020 I voted for Jo Jorgensen. Biden, Trump, etc. are all big spending big government types. Some want to infringe upon liberty in one way, and the others do the same in different ways.
@LiamJHayden this is statistic is what scares me “62% of independents approve the decision to indict Trump”. www.axios.com/.../polling-trump-indictment-republicans-democrats
We already know how most moderate to far right/left republicans and democrats will vote. But there are still a large percentage of swing voters and independents out there.
Suburban women make up one of the largest shares of swing voters. Do you think they are going to be motivated to vote for Trump given that he is being indicted on (supposedly) illegally paying off an ex porn actress who he had an affair with while his wife was pregnant? You and I might not give a shit about something really stupid Trump did back in 2006. We care about policy.
However women in general are unfortunately are very swayed by optics and emotions. Democrats have known this for decades and have used it to their advantage. It’s no coincidence they want this brought out front and center again.
Two things can be true at once. 1) Trump absolutely is being targeted by a corrupt extremely bias system and it’s disgusting. 2) Backing Trump could secure another victory for the Democrats in 2024.
Again Trump has already cost the GOP three elections: 2018, 2020 and 2024. Do you really want to rely on the mail in ballot and/or 2020 election fraud theory to guarantee Trump will win in 2024? I don’t.
We need to get behind DeSantis. He’s young, tough and smart. He won’t shove his foot in his mouth like Trump always does. He could be sleepwalking during presidential debates and will look more coherent and alive than Biden does.
The democrat elitists know that and it’s exactly why they orchestrated this bs arrest. They NEED Trump to get the negative attention off the Biden administration.
The indictment is so laughable that even a lot of Democrats are distancing themselves from it. But it has really shown a willingness in some parts to weaponize law enforcement and the judiciary, and that should be weeded out, or it could result in what you describe.
No not a pandora’s horrific box for Dems. Just for the Trump clan. They’s been asking for it since the inauguration, when they just pocketed the cash for he party no one went to. And then the emoluments clause…dear god how many cases could be open from that?
"And then the emoluments clause"
Zero. It doesn't mean what you think it. does.
@LiamJHayden actually it does. But I’ll be nice and wait til the court to decide. But benefiting as presidents from foreign nations…emoluments. Just them staying at Trump hotels in DC….
@Stoner710 he pocketed a lot of campaign cash. From inauguration party funds, to overcharging secret service at Trump Tower. Like I told the other guy, there’s so many open doors that “may” have a felony behind it….
Those are weak, if that’s the standard then we should go be arresting, Obama, bush, Clinton, and Carter and when Biden exits office Biden as well matter fact, lock up all politicians for that kind of stuff you wouldn’t have a government. Let’s go onto the Felonise. What are they?
@Stoner710 what? No campaign cash is highly regulated. You can’t pocket it or use it to pay off a peon star.
Why not pay for a peon star that sounds awesome lol have a poet write about me is pretty awesome given a such at poetry I would definitely pay a peon star to write one for me,
Donald Trump is incredibly rich $140,000 is a Buttwipes money for him. How do you know he didn’t do it to save his marriage and not his campaign
@Stoner710 actually no. He OVER charged secre service at trump tower. Billionaires don’t worry about that pocket change.
@LiamJHayden ok…I guess if they never bring it up you’re right. But imagine foreign countries donating to Clinton”s charity while she’s in office. Cool with that?
I don’t have a subscription to the New York Times so can’t read the first one. The second one seems to be like he’s making them pay for hotel is nothing for what they get paid. A buddy of mine grew up joining the army and ended up on Air Force One protecting Obama. He got paid a half 1 million a year for four years but had to pay an average of 900 to 1200 for Hotel fees. . I don’t see an issue with that what’s Obama doing to his Secret Service? What does Carter doing to his secret service what is bush doing to his second service it’s not much difference I don’t see the issue. What’s the difference here should the Secret Service not get paid highly enough to be able to buy their own hotel rooms?
@Stoner710 yeah that’s emoluments. Read up on Jimmy Carter’s brother and his peanut farm.
Trump should be tried by an international court given his status. The political divide in America means the result either way will be questioned in the worlds eyes.
Nope, for Republicans.
Mainly as it means they can be opened up for nearly anything in the courts. That is money and time they will need to put towards their court costs instead of election campaign.
Don't they only indict someone when there's enough evidence that they've committed a crime?
I mean there are people with opinions on whether he should or shouldn't be, but then there is evidence.
Absolutely! Who's hiding the list of guests that went to Pedo Island? Is child sex trafficking no longer a crime? Trump's base is outraged, and even some on the left are outraged.
Good chance it'll blow up in the Democrat's collective faces.
After all, from what I have seen so far, the charges are the same that all career politicians have all done time and time again.
It is far worse than that. Russia, China, North Korea and Iran are watching and gauging our weakness.
I know in my heart and soul someday you’re gonna make it big. Someday you’ll be a name everyone knows.
You have something so beautiful deep inside yourself.
You people need a life. Bragg let's out thousand of violent criminals with his no bail policy. Hence is why New York has been trash for awhile.
All I needed to read was you writing, "Trump hating New York Post", to realize I can't take you serious. Anyway, it won't open up a Pandoras Box for democrats because the media won't allow it to happen.
I maybe mistaken but the NY Post was like the only media outlet that endorsed Trump in 2020 and I also believe in 2016. They are also the ones that broke the "Hunter Laptop" story. I agree with Wally. They may not be Trump loving but they definitely aren't "Trump hating".
Well, I wouldn't say you owe him an apology. He wasn't exactly diplomatic in his response, everyone should be taken serious. I also have to say, that it is a sad commentary, that you probably don't even know what honest journalism looks like but don't feel bad! Neither do I.
No apologies necessary! @adaeva... I'm actually on your side.
If they are going after Trump but completely ignored the corruption and bullshit of Hitlery Clinton and GW Bush… there is definitely corruption and bias going on.
I do agree that it's going to open a big can of worms. It's going to backfire on the Democrats
I'd bet money on it. The door ain't just gonna open. It's gonna fly off the hinges.
Americans will prosecute Alvin Bragg and dismiss the case against Trump which is ridiculous
Nah, they'll have him 'assassinated' before he gets close to running again
I think the person that needs to worry about Pandora's box is Trump.
Yeah they're fucked...
it's actually the New York times that hates trump
but it contained "even the Washington Post thinks it’s a stretch" so idea correct.
The precedent has been set
Hunter Biden is probably really nervous.
These accounts omg
Hopefully
Nope
Definitely.
