I think I want and we need Trump back in the White House. Foolish or not?

I know Trump is a non stop circus and a cocky jerk, but the reality is the economy (cost of living) was solid under Trump.

I understand he inherented and up and coming economy from Obama but gasoline and rent prices weren't through the roof with Trump.

Currently under Biden cost of essentials items like deodorant, soap and toothpaste seem to jump 30 to 40 cents (which is ridiculously at a high rate) every 3 to 6 months or so I notice prices jump several cents when I shop, and I shop at the Family Dollar store for my essentials.

And don't me get started on groceries. 😤

Gasoline prices with Trump were $2.38, with Biden is constantly around $4.00 per gallon and now they are saying it's going to go back up in the summer when the car A/C is much needed especially here in Miami where it gets hot as hell with the intense humidity.

They just raised my rent around 6 or 7 months ago, now I got a notice they gonna raise it again.

I understand new candidates are coming and should wait and see what they are about but with Trump, I already know what I'm going to get and just hope the economy/prices can go back down to when he was in the White House.

What you think? My Co-worker scolded me for saying we need Trump back.

Well as usual, if there's someone better out there, I'd challenge your coworker to name them and reasons why, and laugh at them hysterically if they try and say keeping the current administration is a better option.

Right now, Trump is easily the best overall candidate, and most of his negatives have more to do with relations and cooperation with the party than him personally. The only other strong candidate, Ron DeSantis, hasn't even officially declared yet, and his support has predictably dropped since the indictment. While I tend to like DeSantis more, I'm not convinced that he wouldn't just immediately become a party lapdog once in office, and our foreign enemies would be much more eager to test him than Trump.

Nikki Haley is perfect in the exact role she has already occupied: UN ambassador, or any other similar role where simply being the loud speaker preceding the big stick is ideal. She has a long record of impulsively making emotionally charged, wrong in hindsight decisions that we can't afford. She also has probably the most stereotypically swampy connections and donors in the party.

Vivek Ramaswamy is one I do like, but his expertise is a bit too narrow and completely lacks foreign policy experience of any kind. In my opinion, he's really running for a cabinet position for whoever comes out on top, for now.

Chris Christie straight up said he's only running to torpedo Trump. Good luck with that, but in any case, not a serious candidate.

Asa Hutchinson is a democrat pretending to be a Republican. If you ask anyone outside of his state, the main thing everyone who knows of him could tell you about him is how soft he is on transing the kids. He doesn't stand a chance.

Mike Pence isn't winning squat. Most people forgot he was even Trump's VP, and his only memorable accomplishment was clobbering Harris in a debate with no effort, which isn't impressive. While there is demand for the traditional good Christian man on the right, I don't think anybody believes he's assertive enough to do anything.

Pompeo might be good, but like Haley, he's better suited to an appointed position that can be pointed elsewhere. If he ends up running, it won't be to win.

Robert Kennedy stands no chance whatsoever of getting the Democratic nomination. Even if he somehow started to win, the party would sabotage him just like they did to Bernie (twice) to get someone more cooperative.

Marrianne Williamson's entire personality is basically an act. Bush Jr did the same thing pretending to be a southern good ole' boy, and I'm not interested in charades.

There's too many more expected runners to go through in detail including Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and Stacey Abrams, but I think I've made my point: the race is pretty much entirely Trump's at this point.

The inflation and economic problems were long in the making and a result of bipartisan policies, but Biden radically accelerated them. The Fed kicked the can down the road with zero-interest-rate policy after the 2008 financial collapse and bailouts. Remember in late 2019 when repo loan interest rates spiked? That was a serious crisis and the Fed directly intervened to stop it, but the wheels were coming off the system. Whether it was a conspiracy or coincidence, the covid lockdowns and massive direct cash transfers to lucky people (unlucky ones like me were totally screwed) had the effect of stopping the bleeding in the financial sector while preventing inflation in the real economy by killing economic activity. The side effects, however, were devastating to many people, concentrated wealth to the most well off in a radical way, and literally caused starvation in many places overseas. Far more damaging than if they had let covid with its 99.8% survival rate rip. So far all of this happened before Biden.

Biden essentially poured gasoline on the fire. His opposition to the oil industry discouraged investment in domestic energy resources, as did releasing oil from the strategic reserve when oil prices inevitably spiked. His massive recovery act stimulus at the same time the economy was picking up massively increased the inflation rate. His administration baited Russia into a conflict with Ukraine, a long-standing plan of the neoconservatives that Hillary Clinton wanted to do if elected, but instead of working as these idiots intended the sanctions cut the West off from the supply of many commodities. That’s highly damaging to inflation and supply chains, and was entirely foreseeable. Then by confiscating Russia’s foreign reserves (something the US did not even do to mid-century Germany during ww2), they broke the sacred trust of the reserve currency and made the dollar an unsafe asset for anyone who has a conflict with Washington. The outcome was a rapid acceleration in dedollarization of foreign reserves and trade. This will result, eventually, in hyperinflation. In otherwords, the US is turning into banana republic.

This is when I really started to see the difference between the parties.

A Republican often ignored what he said, focused on policies and the good it was doing people... he could say shit and it didn't matter.

A Democrat would often ignore the policies and the good they were doing and point out that he said this or did this back in the day. Like somehow him being a cheater on his wife before he was president would make him a bad president. They would complain about things that had no effect on policy.

Yet someone who spoke good and was polite with terrible policies is what a Democrat would rather have in office. All they care about is appearance.

okay, I guess I know nothing, you win. *eye roll* pipelines can be detrimental to our environment and ecosystem, not a lot of people can buy gas when they die of a failed environment, poisoned water, unbreathable air... the cost of oil at that point would be mute, plus there are 160 pipelines already operational in the US, the Dems' effect has barely put a dent in anything. the market is also easily influenced by pandemics, weather, crises, investors, trade, and big money and lobbyists, Koch Industries for example, whose profits surpassed $125 billion in 2021. Prices are higher to rake in more profit. I highly doubt they can be that easily influenced by one president (who can't pass US policy without congress anyway).

Kinda. You need to remember that most of what Trump pulled off- positive AND negative- was due to the way his victory blindsided people. EVERYBODY expected Hillary to win; the night of the election, I was reassuring a guy in the same room watching the coverage on the news that the states going for him were just a fluke; he wasn't going to win (needless to say, I was wrong there). He'd be able to do a lot less against entrenched opposition that was ready for him- and there's more of that now than there was in 2016, believe it or not.

Even if that was true and Trump would make some prices lower, I'd still very discourage anyone from voting for him on account of his promise to further the current actual genocide going on. Sure maybe you'd pay a whole $2 less on gas prices. But there's a whole group the government is trying to wipe out (or, a whole new group), and Trump said he would make it a goal to make that as further as he can to complete.
