Generally, undocumented immigrants, including DACA holders, are ineligible to receive most federal public benefits, including SNAP, regular Medicaid, SSI, and TANF. They are ineligible for health care subsidies under the ACA and are prohibited from purchasing unsubsidised health coverage on ACA exchanges.
Some may be eligible for a handful of benefits that are deemed necessary to protect life or guarantee safety in dire situations such as access to hospital emergency rooms.
Legal immigrants who have a lawful permanent residence status and have resided as a legal resident for five years (green card holders) do have access to some federal public benefits programs.
Some states do provide some benefits from their state money and that is not from federal funds.
Certain additional categories of immigrants, specifically refugees, asylum seekers, and victims of human trafficking have the same eligibility requirements as lawful permanent residents.221 Reply- +1 y
Well they sure have a lot of illegals residing in fancy motels on our dime. All they do all day is drink, party, and throw out good food because they don't like it because they are not burritos and tacos.

@Daniela1982 You can listen to @Avicenna who does not know what he is talking about, or get the true facts. DACA: The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was created to protect eligible young adults who were brought to the U. S. as children from deportation and to provide them with work authorization for temporary, renewable periods. They were children and had no choice on being brought to the US So by being DACA they actually have legal status, not illegal. And they are not eligible for those benefits. Read immigrationforum.org/.../
That was published this past September. - +1 y
Wrong, as usual:
www.msn.com/.../ar-AA19OQo2 - +1 y
@Avicenna Using your article: "In the lead up to the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, Republican lawmakers were adamant about making sure the proposal would not benefit immigrants living in the U. S. without legal permission." Their opposition was toward immigrants living in the US without legal permission. DACA recipients have legal permission. You (and them) are claiming the recipients are illegal immigrants. They are not!
The DACA recipients often have no memory of the country they came from and may not even speak the language. The administration has been working on gaining a way for them to have a path to citizenship. Until then, they need a way to expand healthcare coverage so that the DACA recipients, here legally, have the same rights to healthcare insurance as every American. If the right would stop using people as slaves and treat them as humans, the path to citizenship for those poor souls under DACA would have been made years ago and this discussion would not be necessary.
And if you can read your own question, you called them illegal aliens and they are not illegal.
- +1 y
There is one difference. If they don't have insurance the Government picks up their tab. If a legal citizen doesn't have insurance they are fucked and wind up owing a couple hundred thousand dollars.
- +1 y
Not in the US they don't. If you don't have insurance most doctors won't even see you. They are there to make money, not do pro bono medicine.
- +1 y
You know, attempting to sound authoritative and propagandizing isn't a substitute for facts. Nor is the faux compassion that is a permanent disability of the cult known as leftism, whose adherent have absolutely no sympathy for fellow Americans.
"Poor souls" my ass. And the Republicans had no say over the ACA since it passed without a single Republican vote. Anything in that legislation is solely the work product of Democrats. And this move by Biden would not have been necessary if they were not illegals.
DACA does not confer legal immigration status. Therefore, they are and have always been in the US illegally. Red Arrow, you are full of shit, no matter how many words you waste perjuring yourself. - +1 y
@Avicenna The ACA guarantees that no American can be denied health insurance for having a preexisting medical condition. Pure and simple! Nothing about non-Americans. So it is for the benefit of American citizens. And you are right that no Republican voted for it. Because they do not give a shit about American citizen's health, they care only about making money off healthcare. And you are right that it is solely the work product of Democrats who do care about Americans health. You seem so proud to align with those who would let Americans die for lack of health care. It is actually the left who have sympathy for fellow Americans while Republicans will leave them dying!
- +1 y
So you're trying to distract us from the fact you dishonestly tried to fool people into thinking that The recent Biden action wasn't about giving a large number of illegals access to government-funded health care, when it was.
Now to answer your idiotic partisan rant.
One has to be pretty stupid to buy the narrative that the Democrats care about the American people when all evidence suggests that they do not. But let's limit the discussion to healthcare- who were the real beneficiaries of ACA? It was those profit-seeking pharmaceutical companies whose donations and other largesse the Democrats are only too happy to accept. ACA didn't solve the problems in health care- it just made health care even more expensive in the US. But, according to you, it's perfect legislation and anyone who wanted to pursue other policies must want people to have no access to health care and to die as a result. That's deranged on your part.
And it was the Democrat-run federal government that wanted to force everyone to get a COVID vaccine, something that your beloved pharmaceutical companies also wanted. Yet nary a peep from you about all those billions in profit those companies made with the help of your beloved Democratic Party, the party of oligarchs that makes policy for them with some breadcrumbs falling to Democratic party activists.
- +1 y
We can tell from your ranting that you have a deep and abiding love for the DC branch of the CCP, a party that is making life very hard for ordinary people with bad economic policies. It's also a racist party whose racist policies have been slapped down already several times by the courts. It is the party of censorship. But I see how proud you are of it, still mentally and emotionally stuck in 1974 as you are.
Ironically, the Republicans cooperate with the Democrats on a lot of bad policy. But that reality is one that your brain can't handle. - +1 y
@Red_Arrow It is not a lie. What you say is true. They do not currently have access to free healthcare but Biden just changed that. I suppose it is to pander for more votes next year so he is doubling down to get the welfare vote which has ballooned under his administration.
- +1 y
@exitseven What he is doing is showing compassion for this who obviously need it something the Republicans never do unless there is profit in it for them.
- +1 y
@Red_Arrow He is pandering for votes. Next I bet he starts pushing to get student loans forgiven. If he would forgive my home mortgage I would vote for him too I guess.
- +1 y
@Avicenna Everything I have said has been positive for America and democracy and has obviously been against racism. You are the one who has been ranting racist shit! As for censorship, the Republicans, Faux News and its “reporters” and its owners and supporters have been shown to be covering up the lies that all sane people can easily see. By believing the shit you spout, you show you are a blithering idiot.
- +1 y
@Red_Arrow If a disabled war veteran or and elderly citizen need help paying their property taxes of paying for home heating oil they would be met with a blank stare and a bunch of excuses but illegal aliens cn sign up for all kinds of welfare programs just for breaking our immigration laws. If the government can selectively only enforce the laws that are beneficial to them then the rest of us should be able to pick whatever laws we wish to obey and the rest we should be able ro ignore.
- +1 y
@exitseven. Those are some of the bullshit stories the wingnuts on the right feed to the gullible, but the truth is that anything that illegal aliens can sign up for, our citizens can also. And veterans can get more benefits than our non-veteran citizens can. Look at the links already provided here, and google terms like veteran benefits. It is not at all what you described.
- +1 y
@Red_Arrow Republicans did not vote for this because it was a disaster of a bill. Obama said premiums would go down which was a big lie and they all knew it. I say my premiums go up almost $500 dollars a month. My company paid most of it but that just meant the company could not afford to be as generous when it came to getting a raise at the end pf the year so working people paid for it one was or the other. My copays went up so much I refused to get an MRI because the copay went from 20 bucks to 250 dollars. I love how democrats name something the opposite of what it really is Affordable Care Act is a prime example of that.
- +1 y
@Red_Arrow No, when I first got married we lived a little bit below the poverty level for a family of four. I used to see people in the supermarket blow through the register with a shopping cart fill of roast beefs and steaks and give the cashier a book of food stamps and go on their way. I applied for food stamps and filled out all the forms. They wanted to know what kind of car I had which I disclosed. Since I owned the vehicle I was not eligible to get food stamps. Their excuse was that I should sell the vehicle and use to money to buy food. When I asked them how I would do my job which I was in sales. I need a car to do my job. I was just met with a blank stare.
- +1 y
I did not see premiums go up. Did not see them go down for me, either, probably because they were not too bad for me. Apparently they went down for many others because more people were able to afford care. My copays stayed the same and raises for all who work where I do continued as they had in the past.
I sometimes see people with roast beef and steaks in the grocery lines, but I saw the same number of people who appeared to be at the same income level doing that before the ACA.

Medicaid is state funded, and it should be up to states that want to welcome them and provide ID which some do. The divide between progressives and libertarians is simply one of who should be footing the bill.
I think a libertarian city would be edgeplay that would always almost get like portland. A progressive ideology turned into law will collapse on itself. Again, I don't believe in or care about fair. I just feel that the decision is one that would raise the price of my insurance and taxes. Ohh, no, some people I'll never meet could die though! Come do my roof, watch my kids, then I'll bring you to urgent care.
Those chances are slim to none.

I noticed that the TDS crowd hasn't chimed in on this. America could easily afford government-type "free" healthcare, or paying private companies to provide it. But first we would have to get term limits in government. Then we would have to ban kick-backs to government employees.
Then we would have to abandon the military industrial complex. Then we would have to let Russia take what country they want. Then we would have to let China take Taiwan.
If we did all of that, we could afford golden healthcare for Americans. On the Internet you see dip-shits from the UK wondering why America doesn't have free healthcare like them. It's because we somehow have become the world police, so we can't afford to take care of our own. Why in the fuck do we have 30,000 American troops protecting the Korean border?01 Reply

Also, you are lying again. These people are not "illegal aliens" (still find that word tasteless) but DACA recipients which means they are legal immigrants.
16 Reply- +1 y
@zagor That is not an accurate term. First of all, they were DACA recipients and not "illegal migrants". Secondly they said "Aliens" which is inherently dehumanizing and even calling them "illegal" is dubious since that is a legal term and under the court of law you are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The correct accurate term would be "Undocumented immigrant" and in this case "DACA recipient". - +1 y
But using the term "immigrant" sounds like they have the inherent right to enter the country and "undocumented" makes it sound like they just forgot the paperwork. I agree that "aliens" makes it sound like little green men, but the fact remains that there needs to be reasonable controls on who comes into the country - California for one doesn't need more people.
- +1 y
@zagor Yes. Immigrants have an inherent right to enter any given country by any means. It is part of international law in fact and is covered under protection of refugees. But again, irrelevant. These are DACA recipients which means they are immigrants who entered the country as minors and had no legal say in the matter.
11.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It is somewhat unfair but in response to this, you don't just take health care away from aliens and refuse to fund it. In order to fund universal health care you stop funding the defense department at the levels it's being funded at now.
Instead, you institute universal health care and provide health care for everyone. You stop funding defense projects in the amount of last year $858 billion for 12 months of Pentagon expenditures. In Other words, you stop subsidizing the defense industry in all of its corruption and graft.
You give up imperialism and you give up the goal of ruling the world.05 ReplyIt's hilarious how people still actually thinks it's Biden... People really don't pay attention to detail. Watch the back of the neck.

We should stop screwing around and just have universal health, food and housing for all humans on planet earth.00 Reply 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It is not fair, obviously. Beyond that it is profoundly unjust to the citizens who do not receive this benefit and are not given low-cost insurance because they fund this giveaway through taxes and inflation. Our system will continue as long as enough people enjoy low-cost corporate sponsored insurance plans or get freebies as part of a client group owned by the elites (like illegal aliens).

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWhat’s funny is that these immigrants had free medicine in their country. They just had government and job issues and didn’t even complain to their own government about it. Nor did they even file visa and k1 processing to actually become US citizens. Now they are struggling because they are still labeled illegal aliens on their documentation and not exactly getting much help from the states. So what did they expect? That USA offers hands outs that they believe in movies lol.
