If you were running for President in 2024, and your Republican opponent was Mr. Ron DeSantis, would you resort to smear tactics?

After watching American politics for many years, would you 'attack' your opponent with smear ads, or would you let your record as a prior office holder, speak for itself? It sometimes appears that trying to smear or downgrade your opposition, backfires on a candidate, and hurts his/her chances of winning an election?

What would you do in that position?

For me personally, I would find it difficult to try to smear an opponent, especially with a man like DeSantis who has a great record as governor in "Florida.

No- I'd limit my campaign to matters of policy (since I don't have a record as a prior office holder), and encourage him to do the same. It'd probably backfire (since smear tactics are disgustingly effective), but at least I'd fail knowing I ran a clean campaign.

A smear tactics can backfire if there is not any truth to it. And the media has been trying to smear him already with the whole "dont say gay" bill thats never said that and kind of backfired on the media anyway.

I think Don should take Ron as VP! The ONLY reason I'd be against that is because there might be a lot of people out there that'll vote Ron over Don but, if Ron's no longer running for Pres. they might go back with Joey!! At least if Don AND Ron run and one beats the other, we still have a great chance of getting the country back!
