no. that's dumb as fuck. and i say that being a german. if we wanna "help the planet" and "reduce carbon emissions", then shutting down nuclear plants (the lowest emission energy production there is), is pretty fucking retarded. yes nuclear waste sucks and nuclear desasters seem to stirr up a lot of media attention. but at the end of the day, if "saving the planet" is the goal, then nothing beats nuclear. at least not currently.

No, if built correctly and maintained in a professional manner a nuclear power plant can provide safe, clean electricity. The problem is when businesses try to save money and take shortcuts that there are problems.

No- we should be building MORE. Nuclear power is the safest and cleanest option we currently have. If the current promising research into enrichment processes bears fruit, it might even be genuinely renewable.

Germany's going to pay the price for their foolishness when the summer ends and the Ukraine war either ends, forcing Russia to revise its energy exports, or settles into a stalemate, forcing Russia to husband its resource reserves. As nice as they sound, solar and wind are decades of heavy research (especially in the area of component recycling) away from being anything more than an assistance in meeting the energy- or even just electrical- needs a major first-world country. At best, Germany's going to end up following Sweden, moving their production to other places, weakening themselves in order to claim greenhouse gas emission reductions- but all Sweden lost was economic strength; Germany's foolishness here is going to kill people.
