If we have to execute prisoners, why don't we do it with a bullet to the back of the head instead of lethal injections?

Now first of all, I'm against the death penalty but here's what I don't get: if we have to execute people, why do we use complicated execution methods like the electric chair and lethal injections? Why don't we just use a gunshot to the back of the head?

The executioner as an identifiable individual is the mental gymnastics to jump through. Can't do the blackhood anymore and in theory a doctor does the lethal injection but "do no harm" of the Hippocratic Oath kicked that in the nuts.

So random prison guards who know just enough to set up the injection. Then that set up is put on two buttons that are push by two different people at the same time and one actives it but the computer deletes what button did it and we can all sleep soundly no one truly know who killed the prisoner of the state.

Crime investigation does get better over time and you can argue the executioner as an accomplice and trigger man of unjustified murder if a case is over turn overturning a executed convict being ultimately innocent. Thus creating the lawful execution into a unlawful murder crime scene.

The warden of the prison on the guards gets a level of liability coverage as just following orders and it's impossible to find the trigger man.

It's best not to have the death penalty at all.

A bullet to the back of the head is how the do executions in China, and the they bill the family of the person executed for the execution.
If the lethal injections are done properly the person being executed should feel no pain, problems arise when the injections are out of sequence.

We humanely kill millions of animals in slaughterhouses every year so why do we struggle to lkill a person?

As for lethal injection, vets have the highest suicide rate and guess how most of them say goodbye? It's not hard to stick a needle in a arm. Millions of people get it done daily in hospital.

Because people would protest that it's cruel. Getting shot comes with pain. We're all told that with lethal injection, they just painlessly go to sleep forever. It's much more acceptable for the sympathetic folks.
