Why do peole love saying both sides are at fault for division and hate when conservatives are under critcisism for it?

It's like no matter what the issue is and even conservatives are at fault like for Jan 6th coup attempt, there is always someone that jumps in and says "both sides are too blame not just conservatives" and its usually from someone who probably flirted with trumpism and doesn't want the criticism they are facing or they love Trump but don't want to face the criticism for their bigotry and fanaticism so they try to play the so called neutral party or moderate point to try and avoid being blamed and criticized for supporting Trump. Oh and news flash, no two sides are ever the same. Saying both sides are at fault is just a lazy excuse when you have nothing to defend but want to maintain your reputation as a non bigot when the truth is if you support Trump most likely you are a bigot.
