If Cheating was a crime like it should be, what would the proper punishment be?

We all know cheating is only done because it has no negative outcomes in todays world, especialy none of a criminal record. People only do something when there are no consequences for it. If Cheating was handled like theft then the amount of cheating that happens now would drop quickly to near Zero.

Cheating hurts emotionaly the most and can even ruin how a person is so why isn't it a crime if it does affect one for their entire life.

I wouldn't mind it if it just showed up when cops run your plates. I know in the top it usually says if the registration and insurance is good, right next to that it should say if they're a cheater. To help the officer get a little context who they're dealing with.

It's not about who hurt y'all like some want to have as a poor excuse for their poor moral less behavior. Its about having a logic on it. You can be charged for insulting someone and both do take the conscous decision to do the action required for it.
Insulting a person does way less damage then cheating on someone. By the defention of what is punishable and what isn't Cheating would be in the punishable side and maybe even give you a criminal record.
