How come the term ‘person of colour’ ain’t as offensive as ‘coloured person’?

Both terms literally refer to a person. Both terms have ‘colour’ in them. I haven’t heard ‘coloured person/people’ (though have read in a book with a racist person in it) but have heard many times ‘poc’ or ‘person/people of colour.’ I find both terms offensive and racist. I am bloody disgusted by those terms.

I thought colored person was considered more offensive? I thought it was more politically correct to put the word person before the description of the person because First and foremost they are a human. I don’t use either of those phrases though.

It sure seems so, Anna. That’s why they use the socially not-so-offensive word a lot, although it’s still racist. White is a colour as much as black is, though achromatic, scientifically speaking. I am very glad You use them not, so bloody disgusting, and screw Politik!

Nu, all women can be called women of colour, whichever colour the women are, although I agree on the offensiveness. People are like teeth of a comb — they are all the same!

I don't know where you are or where you heard people using the term "women of color", but where I live they only use that term with black women. I've never heard a white person calling a white woman "woman of color".

We could chose instead to use the three racial classifications for. humanmind which was introduced long ago:
Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and Negroid

I reckon I’m all three, being Ashkenazi on my paternal grandfather’s side and Mongolian on my maternal grandmother’s side. It’s hard to determine which of those three sub-races a human is! I understand, but may cause more confusion.

If it's okay to say middle eastern and Asian in classifying people who may never have been born there, why not just use African to identify people whos descendents originated there?

What about Asians? They ain’t Black, but they fit the description of coloured people/people of colour. Black is actually not exactly a fitting word, as coal, night, etc are blacker than many Blacks.
