The settlement appears to be very fishy.

1. Dominion’s machines were used in 28 US states in 2020. Prior to the election, they were widely known for their unreliability. In 2019, a group of prominent Democrats, including Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, warned that they were “prone to security problems,” including “switching votes,” delivering results that “threaten the integrity of our elections,” and other “undisclosed vulnerabilities.”

Fox was simply reporting newsworthy allegations from public figures like Powell and Guiliani, as was its “absolute right” under the US Constitution. I see no reason why FOX needed to pay anything. 2. Dominion cannot possibly show they were damaged by anywhere near that amount. Private equity firm Staple Street Capital valued Dominion at $80 million when it purchased a controlling stake in it in 2018. If that is not a political decision, I don't know what. It also prevented Fox from showing that votes for Trump was switched to Biden and to require Dominion to reveal their voting code.

There seems to be a pattern in this country with big businesses mysteriously paying out big "settlements" for leftist causes when they don't have to.
Anther example is the insurance company representing the now defunct " Remington Outdoor Company" agreeing to pay $73 million dollars to the "Sandy Hook families" even when the State's own court said there was no reason to.

That said there was no way Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric M. Davis (D) was going to give Fox News a fair trial, or for that matter respect the constitution, he made that perfectly clear. Still Fox News should have appealed it all the way to the U. S. Supreme court.

Oh, this is easy.

Fox settled the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit because Fox was clearly guilty of defamation and they knew that they'd lose the case and the full $1.6 billion... and that's before any punitive damages which could have been an additional $3.2 billion, I suspect. At the end of 2022, Fox had about $4 billion in cash on hand to pay for things, so if they had to pay out to Dominion, that could have wiped them out.

Furthermore, the testimony given in the Dominion trial could THEN be used in the Smartmatic trial and they are suing Fox for $2.7 billion.

Now, Fox's talking heads, guests, and executives can lie on TV all they want, but you don't lie in court because that costs you your freedom.

So, if Fox went to trial in the Dominion case, oceans of Fox personnel including owner Rupert Murdoch would have been required to testify. Then, in the Smartmatic trial, they would again be confronted with their own damning testimony.

And those two would then be the tip of the iceberg as more and more parties who've been harmed by Fox's lies file lawsuits against Fox. There'd be trials for another decade at least.

Fox isn't stupid. They had to settle - and will keep settling - because, if they don't, they might cease to exist.

At a minimum, Fox would lose countless billions for years because they would have been completely exposed as the lie factory that they are. Advertisers would have completely bailed; careers would have ended; probably a few suicides as well.

The judge was right the network couldn’t claim it didn’t air false claims because the evidence shows they did know it was false. Their own internal texts and e-mails admitted as much. Amazingly, they even had recordings of Trump’s own legal and campaign staff admitting they had no evidence to back up their claims. Dominion voluntarily provided their source code to establish falsity. It was part of the judge’s opinion if you paid any attention. Fox didn’t contest the source code. There was nowhere left to go to prove they didn’t knowingly lie. There isn’t evidence that any votes were ever flipped. It’s all a manufactured falsehood. You are right that Dominion didn’t suffer losses nearly as extensive as the settlement amount. The fact that Fox was willing to pay almost 10 times the value of the company to avoid a trial is very revealing. They were desperate. Dominion was going to parade every producer, staffer and on-air personality on the stand and force them to admit publicly that they knew what they did was false. How badly did Fox want to avoid that humiliation? $787.5 million, that’s how much. Get ready to see the exact same scenario play out again with Smartmatic. Fox has already put a price on their own malfeasance.

FOX has to settle two claims. The one with Dominion and the one with Smartmatic. The one with Dominion was for just over 1 billion dollars, but they got a 200 million discount for settling out of court.

Smartmatic are taking the fucking bull by the horns and saying they will not settle out of court for their 2.7 billion dollar suit. Hence why FOX were quick to settle Dominion.

The Smartmatic lawsuit will cost FOX around 3-4 billion dollars with court costs and fees added.

And the judge in the case already reprimanded Fox for not complying with court rules regarding discovery and disclosure.


There is a huge difference between freedom of speech and defamation. And defamation can have future damages. Just because they didn’t lose the money today, doesn’t mean it’s not a tangible loss.


Not saying Dominion is all rosy and good. But it definitely doesn’t have any clear cut evidence yet of a conspiracy theory like you’re framing it as.
