Why did Fox settle with Dominion lawsuit? Is it as it appears or is it smoke and mirrors so the public wouldn't question the Dominion voting results?

Is it real or is it fake?
Is it real or is it fake?

The settlement appears to be very fishy.

1. Dominion’s machines were used in 28 US states in 2020. Prior to the election, they were widely known for their unreliability. In 2019, a group of prominent Democrats, including Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, warned that they were “prone to security problems,” including “switching votes,” delivering results that “threaten the integrity of our elections,” and other “undisclosed vulnerabilities.”

Fox was simply reporting newsworthy allegations from public figures like Powell and Guiliani, as was its “absolute right” under the US Constitution. I see no reason why FOX needed to pay anything. CNN paid nothing to Trump for all the lies about collusion with Russia. https://www.rt.com/news/574968-fox-dominion-lawsuit-settlement/

2. Dominion cannot possibly show they were damaged by anywhere near that amount. Private equity firm Staple Street Capital valued Dominion at $80 million when it purchased a controlling stake in it in 2018. The Fox settlement was nearly 10 times that amount and far outstripped the $226 million average of four pre-election valuations cited in Fox's court papers. https://www.reuters.com/legal/fox-settlement-leaves-key-question-unanswered-whats-dominion-really-worth-2023-04-21/

3. Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric M. Davis undercut key arguments in Fox News’s defense against a $1.6 billion defamation suit Friday, ruling the network cannot dispute that it aired false, harmful statements about an election-technology company when the case goes to trial next month. https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2023/03/31/dominion-fox-lawsuit-summary-ruling/

If that is not a political decision, I don't know what. It also prevented Fox from showing that votes for Trump was switched to Biden and to require Dominion to reveal their voting code.
