E Jean Carol assaulted me when I was a kid. I never told anyone, never complained, kinda liked it at the time... and I thought rape was hot. there were no witnesses and I can't remember hardly anything much. Where do I file suit?

That's a reasonable "balanced" decision given the situation. Of what I listened to, I didn't hear evidence that she was raped. It sounded like she was active participant, so I question the "assault". I didn't listen to whole thing so I cannot judge their decision.

I'm looking forward to all the men filing law suits against women for sexually imposing on them and emotional abuse. In new york alone, should be around 1 million lawsuits forthcoming. fun times for lawyers... they always win.

I wonder how many people could go through the same, based upon how one person interpreted the event.

Don't waste my intelligence with coming out and claiming some he said she said happened decades ago. There is no way to prove anything did or didn't happen.

I recognize political hits when I see them. People wanting their political enemies taken out and using corrupt agencies to do it.

Just like when Cavenaugh was up for the Supreme Court suddenly people want to claim unprovable 30 year old offenses and all the political, corrupt forces were demanding he not be elected over 1 person's 30 year old he said, she said claim.

Reporting a crime like this back in the 90's would have been extremely hard and more then likely the cops would have thrown the case out since trump has been pretty famous for many years and he could have potentially paid them off where today the police are more open to listening to victims.

For those of you who truly believe he is innocent did none of you hear the secret recording of trump where he basically admitted to doing certain things to women and getting away with it. Have none of you even stop to realise that his own wife is starting to distance herself from him, his youngest son is hardly ever around him and trumps older kids well it seems some of them are now starting to distance themselves from their dad.

As for the opinion from the person who talked about her not remembering the date. Ask many who are genuine victims that date the attack took place and you will find many while they can remember what happened to them they have no memory of the date the assault happened

Ms Carroll could not specify the date of the attack, it stripped Mr Trump of the chance to provide an alibi. She did not report a crime to police or scream while it occurred. She was only able to bring the civil case against Mr Trump after New York passed the Adult Survivors Act in 2022. Not a criminal one but a civil one where the standard of proof in civil cases is lower than in criminal cases, meaning that jurors were only required to find that it was more likely than not that Mr Trump assaulted Ms Carroll. I am absolutely not a fan of Trump but this case reeks of BS. Plus the US legal system is absolutely fucked. Well, at least she got 5 million for a kiss or a grope.

Civil cases will go like that. The criminal one will likely get drag out and get dismissed after the election regardless of the results. Honestly regardless of what "actually happened" it's something that damages women who were raped, and innocent men.

It only really empowers mob courts, as now judges in other courts might be more likely to actually pursue perjury or trumped (ha!) up charges to prove their partisanship.

It's easy to trip up even an honest witness or jury with that. Mob court won't help anyone, regardless of which side you stand for if any.

He wasn't found guilty; that's in criminal cases and involves "beyond a reasonable doubt".

This is a civil case and he was found liable "beyond a preponderance of the evidence".

This case arose because of a 2022 limited law that enabled victims of rape to sue in civil court their rapists for rapes whose statute of limitations for the crime ran out.

E. Jean Carroll called out Trump about this in 2019 in her book. Partly likely because of #MeToo. Once the 2022 law went into effect, she could sue him.

The anonymous jury of 6 men and 3 women unanimously found that Trump sexually assaulted her "beyond a preponderance of the evidence" but the evidence was insufficient that he raped her.

Because Trump repeatedly called her a liar over this, she also sued him for defamation.

Again, the jury found Trump liable for that.

Frankly, since he's still calling her a liar over this matter, she should sue him again until he shuts the fuck up over this.

He'll appeal, of course.

I believe this was a civil case (eg lawsuit) not a criminal case so the standards are very different: "preponderance of evidence vs "beyond a reasonable doubt" (if that is incorrect, someone please correct me)

Regardless of the facts its difficult to imagine a unanimous verdict in a jury today given that almost everyone has a strong opinion of Trump (one way or the other) to begin with. Combine that with the lack of physical evidence and its almost a guaranteed hung jury.

I don't think this case will change anything.

They rejected the story, due to the woman and prosecutor having a total lack of credibility. Then, the judge cowed them into changing their minds, because they "got the verdict wrong." There was jury tampering at every level, including by an Obama-appointed excuse for a judge!

But I'm not surprised by this. No matter how many acts of mental gymnastics the Tide zombies have to pull off in Olympian fashion, they are dead set against ever letting Trump be eligible to run again. Because that's how unable they are to let go of 2016, when he defied the odds of all their dirty tricks, and somehow beat the Butcher of Benghazi.

I'd love to see Jo Jorgensen run again, and somehow win, just to watch how apoplectic the commie scum get!

It was a curious verdict. So the jury believes she was sexually abused in some way and defamed but it wasn’t rape? Granted I wasn’t in that courtroom listening to the testimony given but the rape allegation was the centerpiece of the trial. Kind of a head scratcher.
