This is an interesting question.
On one hand everyone wants to live a rich life but in the other it’s not likely.
I will most likely always want to never have to worry about finance but that is a dream that will never be reached.
Honestly as long as my man isn’t homeless I’m fine with whatever, so long as he treats me with kindness.
Average is fine with me. I'm just not into spending money tbh. My husband makes about average and he is able to support me and 4 kids with no problem.

$38,000 is average/mean income in the USA, not $50,000. That is $1,000 per month MORE than average.
As long as you make $30,000 + per year many women are fine with that. Online though, many more people are greedy more often than in real life.
Plus, money management matters far more than total income. Plenty of people that make a lot waste it on an oversized expensive house, and a overpriced car and have almost no discretionary spending money left each month. Back when I made $29,000 per year I had more spending money left over each month than some coworkers that were making $48,000. Many people just suck at money management.
Respectfully, because I agree with the sentiment, but I've never seen the mean income reported that low.

Good catch, but mean is still reported at 57k here:

That's more in line with what I've always heard, with some States of course being very different (LA vs CA)
I wonder if that 38 is including young workers. HS even. 38k is $19/hour. A lot for a high school kid or part timer at college but when you figure they bring down all the people with careers out there, I could see it then being reduced to 38. Well or military... I made less than that when I was a Private, but just barely.
Average income numbers for 2020 and 2021 are misleading because it includes unemployment income and during the pandemic people got an extra $600 per week over and above their normal benefits regardless of their income. So even people normally making minimum wage temporarily gained an additional $2,400 per month. That is why for those two years the average/mean income looks much higher than it normally was. Either look at 2019 levels and before or wait until the 2022 statistics become available next year.
2018: 50,413
2019: 54,129

Most people I know didn't get that extra $600/week. That can't affect the data that sharply that I see 50+ and you see 38.
To hit 38k I'd have to go back to 2010.
Guys worry way to much with this issue. If a girl earns more money it hurts their ego when actually you should feel happy, since in general women earn less than men even when they do the same job. As long as he’s capable of pay his own expenses it’s fine. We are all trying our best here. Being succeed doesn’t always means earning lots of money. It’s the little things that matter.
I don't care what she makes because whatever it is doesn't benefit me. She just needs to earn more than she spends.
Certainly my advice to females is you need a LOT more than this , average is just that , you don't want someone who aspires to be average , that x 4 ( or working towards ) certainly this is the amount required , don't settle for average or mediocre.
Well I live in Spain and my salary is 60k euros (average is 30k) and I live very comfortably and I would like it to stay that way, so statistically speaking an ideal would be for him to earn same or more as me. But in honesty I wouldn't care if he was earning 25k either (a minimum wage) as long he is contributing in any way.
As long as you can carry your weight and are responsible with your money then it doesn't matter, work minimum wage for all I care lol, it's your money and not my business
Honestly- it’s none of my business. If he is happy and doing what he likes to do and is self sufficient then who gives a shit
Yes unlucky for him
Yeah, a normal income I am happy with that lol As long as we get the casual things in life to have fun I am perfectly happy. We get to go on trips and things still but it's because we don't have to pay rent or mortgage.
At lease same as me.
When I met my second husband, he didn’t have a job. So sometimes…love is blind.
some said, first marriage for love, second for money. Didn’t happen to me.
As long as they can pay rent/mortgage and contribute to bills plus have some savings I really don't care.
I don't care. Long as you can pay for your own stuff and your bills, it makes 0 difference to me.
Some things are far more important than money. Yes, you need money to pay the bills, but outside that you can live without it.
Depends upon where one lives, or wants to live. Rural areas and certain nations are far more affordable than lots of areas of the USA, many where two $50K salaries would still require a cosigner to get a typical apartment.
Women want
1. Vacations
2. Good food
3. Big house
4. Lots of toys
5. Dozens of memberships and subscriptions
6. Luxury cars
7. At least 2 kids
You can barely do one of those things with an average income. It's imperative for a man to have at least 7 figures a year at his disposal.
Seven figures is less than half a percent of people, fewer than that of men. Good luck finding that much less being good enough to be picked by him.
@BoopBoopBeep that's why polygyny is the normal. As many 20 women could be his wife and another 20 could be side pieces
I love it that more than half the women who responded said they need more than 50 k a year:)
In this economy, I think 50K won't cut, depending on where you're living.
Most women would prefer that you make more than that, but they would still give you a shot.
How much do they want
I would say most college educated women are going to want at least $70k, and that’ll be for a medium-large sized town. Here’s the thing; most women learn really quick how hard it is to make six figures. Those dreams of the miracle hubby who makes enough for her to live comfortably from home tend to go out the window around 26-28
They need a man with millions so they can buy all the green tea in the world.
Pretty sure they don't care much, so long they don't have to live in a trailer. And even that might be overlooked.
as long as he can afford high speed internet and a dog or 5, and a lot of aquariums…
The more money you earn the more you are "supposed" to spend, or you will be hurting everyone in the world.
As long as he can provide and live comfortably, i wouldn’t care
Can you define comfortable? Genuine question!
I was watching Crazy Rich Asians the other day. And he said that his family is comfortable. Only a filthy rich person would say that.
So, your definition?
For me the definition of living comfortably is when you can afford everything you need in your life
Women want as much money as they can get and they will also lie about that here.
Enough to live? I do the same.
Don't care. That's his money.
Here is where women lie shamelessly.
at least 600k
Dollars?
I think she means that's the number of guys she's been through looking for her SugarDaddy. 😀
@RingOfFire I don't think so. It occured to me later that she meant the currency of her country. Pakistani Rupees.
I looked up her location and thought the same thing so I agree with you. Just a little humor. 😀
@RingOfFire shame on you for being so shameless idiot.
Shame on you for having no sense of humor.
