With the exception of the Civil War and part of 1812, *NO* American soldier has been killed fighting in a war for their country. Turkey, Tunisia, Mexico, Korea, Samoa, Spain, Cuba, Guam, the Philippines, China, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Austria, Japan, Russia, the USSR, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Lebanon, Cambodia, Grenada, Panama, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Niger and Syria (and I'm by no means certain that's all of them) are ALL not the US. We have fought a grand total of TWO defensive wars in this country, and in one of them, we were also the aggressor.
Most likely, the (American) soldiers who died there had personal connections to Ukraine.
We have zero business over there, we have zero business funding them.. We should just let them kill each other off.
You raise people to hate Russians all their lives, train them to kill Russians and now you wonder why they sign up as mercenaries?

It isn't a matter of money. A lot of these soldiers that are American have been discharged. They can't be a uniformed foreign combatant.
A lot went to fight for Ukraine because they believed in the cause, not much different from them going to Afghanistan post withdrawal to help evacuate people who were left behind.
You ask why they’re fighting for a country that isn’t theirs? It happens all the time. On the flip side sometimes other parts of the world ask for help & you have volunteers that step right up.
What are the American soldiers doing there?
They are helping out
