Yes the thing about addiction is that it is actually a disease, a disease of Choice!! I’m Not saying that people choose to be addicted, there are a lot of people that are prone to addiction by genetics and other factors that I’m not even going to get into. So addiction itself is a disease. But just because your an addict it does not change the fact that you still choose to do the drugs or whatever it is that your addicted to. Drugs, alcohol, nicotine, and gambling all effect your brains in different ways but most commonly they effect your dopamine receptors. And because our brain loves dopamine we want more of it and sooner or later that thing that your addicted to will start climbing the “survival ladder” you’ll be choosing your addiction over socializing, water and drugs. If you were to go to a starving and thirsty homeless man and offer him his drug of choice or food and water he will choose the drug because his brain is telling him he needs it more then food and water to survive. You see the more you go down that “road” the harder it is to come back and that my friend is facts!
