Sometimes favors are extended so quickly and unexpectedly that thanks are beyond the thoughts of a person in need at the time. They needed help and it was provided.
I easily give those a pass.
I'd generally say that thanks for favors are in order, but people aren't perfect, and even though a recipient of a favor may be thrilled but not acknowledge the favor, that doesn't necessarily mean that the favor provider should feel slighted.
Good was done, regardless of the recipient's thanks or not.
Habitual favor non-responders need a bit of a nudge on their shoulders sometimes to be more aware of other favor-doers in their lives. They may be great favor-doers, themselves!
Be kind to others.
Try to remember to give thanks where thanks are due.
GREAT question!!!

Yeah that's not a function of "do you think" that's just matter-of-factly rude
Damn right it is... Common courtesy and good manners cost nothing.

I don't say thank you when people do things for me - I repay them by doing favours for them too.
Technically but I don't get bent out of shape over it. Their actions mean more to me than a thank you.
Yes it's definitely rude. You should always say thank you.
