Italy’s new Prime Ministry Georgia Meloni decided that June will be family pride month instead of gay pride month.
This makes sense to me because natural families are what keeps civilization and culture going. And because Italy has a low birth rate so it seems important to bolster it.
I agree, glad to see it, is she available to sneak in the southern border and accept a posthumous US citizenship?

I'm still waiting to hear the justification for a very small minority of the population getting an entire month of arbitrary recognition just for existing in the first place, but I think this is overall a good idea. I'm not sure what Italy's primary schooling schedule looks like, but the month immediately after schools let out and going into vacation season is the best time for it.

The only issue I see is now it is essentially censoring or dismissing gay rights and beliefs. Why not just make it a different month? All for the idea, but why not make a different month out of it. It looks more like retaliation against a particular group when doing it to an already established month.
Not being celebrated isn't the same thing as being censored.
@DextroShade when you have a "gay pride month" that has been acknowledged and recognized and decide to overrule it with something else... yeah, I would call that censoring. This is literally taking away pride month and replacing it.
Pride month shouldn't even exist in the first place, because if being gay or Trans is just some accident of birth as they claim then it is pointless to be proud of it. Family is an achievement. Regardless, are Italian alphabet people forbidden from celebrating pride month or did the government just decide they would rather officially celebrate families instead?
@DextroShade it isn't so much about pride as it is acceptance for not being shamed for their sexuality. That was the pride, not it being an achievement.
Now whether or not Italians are forbidding their people from celebrating the month in general is something I am not sure about, but I don't think that is the case. To go with that I believe families should be celebrated and promoted to have a month like I said in my initial statement. I feel they can do both which brings us back to the first thing I said. Why not use a different month and acknowledge it as a family month?

Fine with me! Why do we even need a gay pride day? I don't know if they still do it but, when I was a kid, the local amusement park would have ethnic days every year!! Italian day, Polish day, Irish day, German day, etc.. Yet NONE of them EVER had ethnic pride days all over the city OR the country!! So, why do we need an an entire MONTH for gays? Good way to ensure they are never re-elected I guess. Furthermore, it is irrelevant. Gay pride events does not need government support to exist. Overall, I think its a bad move both politically and morally. It is a sign of someone who probably dont understand politics quite frankly and should not be in a position of power.

If we take a standard assumption that around 7% of people are homosexuals (at the low end) that means that the Italian government just alienated a minority the size of 7% of their voters. The problem for them however is that unlike black people or whatever, this minority is completely randomized.
That means it is much harder to suppress such as how Republicans in USA loves to gerrymander based on racial bias because they oppress racial minorities over there. You can't really do that with homosexuals since they are randomly placed around the society. It also means that unlike a racial group such as black people they are not concentrated into families meaning that unlike a black family where each member is black, a family with a homosexual has mostly straight people.
Without doing any math, we can then assume that every gay person has a mother, father and probably siblings if not even kids. This quickly starts to multiply into a very sizable group of people which are biased in favor of gay people because of their close family ties and therefore inherently becomes against the current Italian government.
Mathematically, they just made a whole bunch of enemies for themselves and what they got in return is.. nothing really. I mean, once again, pride month is primarily a community driven event so it does not rely on government support to be a thing. You just pissed off a major slice if your voters for literally no reason, good job Italy!

Soteris, just to show you how little you actually know about Germany, there is a significant amount of poverty here (and I know this because I’ve lived half of my life here and have relatives here). Is it common? Not that I’ve noticed, but I have seen dumpster diving in Berlin and Duisburg, and even in wealthy Munich, I’ve seen quite a few people fishing out plastic bottles from trash cans so they could return them for the deposits.
As for poverty in the US yes, there’s way too much of it, but why should I be ashamed of the effects of leftist policies I oppose? Don’t forget that those open borders policies you love import a lot off poverty and helps worsen or cause it among legal residents of the US.
There is a significant social welfare net in the US; however, some people don’t want to use it because it comes with rules (e. g., at homeless shelters) or they are trying to get money on the side. I mostly just took the figure of 93.2% of men considering themselves as entirely hetrosexual and inverted it to get 6.8% being somewhere on the bisexual and homosexual spectrum which is fairly generous of me if I say so myself since I am personally of the opinion that these numbers are suppressed, in that people are not being honest with their own feelings but I digress.
Also worth pointing out that women are 86.8% entirely heterosexual so if we combined the male and female number we would get a much higher average, but again, I am being very conservative with my numbers because I do not need to argue for them being higher to still prove my point.

When it comes to sexuality, there is no "spectrum"; if you're homosexual, then that's what you are, if you're bisexual, then you're that. Do you actually know what a spectrum is?

@WhiteBoyChill Marriage, is only protected by federal law and now that we know how quick that can change after abortion it could easily and quickly change to being illegal in a lot of states again. Still wondering how it was less than 8 years ago that it was made legal by a federal law. Also some things some people just dont think about like citizenship for children. There is a thing called "gay panic defense" imagine women could use a "heterosexual panic defense". It was until 2020 it was legal to not hire someone BECAUSE of their sexuality. In a few states its technically legal for landlords to not accept someone as a renter because of their sexuality. This on the purely legal parts. Not even talking about general acceptance. That is an even bigger problem.
