Elon is basically observing that water is wet. Public trust in federal law enforcement and the DOJ across the board is at its lowest it has ever been, and has been on the decline since at least the Obama administration, really you'd have to go back to Bush or even Clinton to see where the visible cracks were forming. That said, I think that public trust (about 25%) has bottomed out.

The problem with this one is that there's already a legal precedent established during the Clinton administration that makes it an open and shut not guilty verdict, at least for Trump. It's entirely possible that this is really more about going after people around him to send a message, because now the news is dropping names of aides for involvement. Now if the courts want to overturn the precedent to nail Trump, okay, but then I expect every single other living former president as well as the current one dragged off in chains, as well as Hillary Clinton and likely many others who simply haven't been important enough to gain that much attention. Personally I consider that a fair deal, but it seems pretty obvious that there's no intention of doing that, and the justice system is very much tiered and stacked against anyone not part of the insider elite, and that's the real issue.

Half the country already thinks Trump is a criminal who deserves to go to jail. The other half already think he's innocent, and this whole thing is politically motivated.

I can't imagine that the indictment is going to make a whole lot of difference at this point. I'd be surprised if there were five whole people that actually change their mind, as a result.

I worry a little about how few people seem to understand how the legal system works. The justice department prevents their evidence to a grand jury. The grand jury votes and decides whether to indict someone if they believe there is enough evidence of a crime to go to trial. People claiming bogus nonsense like "Biden is jailing a political opponent" is just dumb. The conspiracy theories are out of control as usual. Grand juries indict people. It's not politically motivated of them to vote to indict based on the evidence they heard. It's "politically motivated" if someone says he can't be indicted because he happened to be a politician as if laws don't apply to that profession somehow. There is one set of laws and they apply to everyone regardless of what job they used to have.

When it comes to Trump, the department of (in) Justice is a joke. From Russia to whatever bs they are putting him through the wringer for this time, he probably ripped the tag off of a mattress or something. It has been obvious from day one they hate him because he actually gives a shit about the American people unlike the overwhelming majority of the rest. They are constantly giving him shit because they want all opposition to the machine to be scared.
