5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. De Santis is practically as bad as Trump. In fact, he's worse really.
Trump has narcissistic personality disorder, so he's primarily fucked in the head and that does make him a threat.
But Desantis is a young Republican brought up during the Reagan years. As I said 30+ years ago, any kid born after 1976 to 1988 was going to fucked up because of 12 years of GOP fantasyland. Look at all the people who freaked out over inflation the past couple of years. That's because they were born into a fantasyland in which inflation doesn't exist.
Anyway, I am getting off-track. Desantis is fucked in the head because he's power-hungry and duplicitous. And, frankly, the Justice Department should consider going after him because his shenanigans over illegally transporting illegal aliens is a federal felony. Desantis, Cruz, Josh Hawley - these people are power-hungry demagogues.
Trump wasn't like that because he was brought up in power. He just never learned that you have to work within the law and he never got the attitude adjustment he needed as a young man to be ethical like the rest of us.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI used to really like Desantis but he came out with a campaign advertisement that deceptively used AI to show Trump being all buddy buddy with Fauci and said this was real when it is obviously fake since the writing in the background is a garbled mess.
I don't have a problem with AI in advertising but lying to the public with it is where the line is crossed.
Unless Desantis fires the people who made it and made a public apology, I'm voting third party.

I'm glad to hear how this impacted how you feel about desantis. It's understandable and makes sense. It's frustrating to see people double and triple down on folks that are like this or worse. I don't vote right but even if you do, I think it's great you're looking for another candidate on the right.
Opinion Owner+1 y@Friendlybro79 Well. That is assuming Trump will be still in the race considering Biden has such a rage boner against him. I would be voting for Trump otherwise since the economy thrived under him.
- +1 y
I don't think the rage boner factor is any different than the GOPs and Trump's rage boner against Biden and his son's laptop. Hence roughly 4 years of investigating the laptop and the now house committee. We forget that each side is constantly under attack by the other. I will say the Republicans make it so much easier to get caught cause like in trump's case he can't keep his mouth shut. Regardless I want all corrupt politicians out. Just need time to see.
Opinion Owner+1 y@Friendlybro79 Yeah but he has an actual case for this along with Joe's withholding congressionally approved loans unless the prosecutor investigating Hunter is fired. Joe even admitted this on video.
What do they have for Trump? Nothing. Unless they want to say that keeping documents in their residency is illegal then fine, arrest every single president since at least Bush Sr. because they are all guilty of it.
- +1 y
Source that video. I can't find it and I'd def like to view it. As for what do they have for Trump if read the entire indictment. It's not long and easy to understand. He didn't get charged for the stuff he returned. He's being charged on the stuff he refused to return. There's a difference between what pence and biden did and trump. That said there should be ramifications for all 3. That said a slap in the face vs decapitating someone as an ex would receive different punishments. Just a silly ex to make the point most Trumpers don't get. The three of them did not do equally wrong things.

He says it in this video at around 51:49.
"I said, I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars. I said, you’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. (Laughter.) He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time."
"He's being charged on the stuff he refused to return."
Ok so what about the other presidents? They were never pressed to return that stuff at all I am guessing.
"There's a difference between what pence and biden did and trump."
I agree. Neither of them were president at the time so they never had declassification powers. If anything, they should be the ones tossed in prison.
My point still stands, if Trump MUST go to prison, the rest of them should go with him. No one is above the law right?- +1 y
That's been proven false. VPs do have that power
www.usatoday.com/.../
That said if any wrongdoing actually happened that deserves punishment as the law stands (not what me or you think should happen) then I agree they should be punished. We just haven't seen that be the case because they cooperated fully. I'm def not suggesting there isn't more to be looked at. Trump is def more guilty of what he did based on the indictment. It's not that disputable
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yBiden, begrudgingly. DeSantis is another Trump. Thin-skinned, still crying about Disney disagreeing with him and weaponizing the government to try to punish anyone who disagrees with him like dictators in North Korea or China do. Supposedly represents a party that's pro-freedom but bans everything he disagrees with, like North Korea or China. He's a Communist and a Fascist masquerading as a Republican and they can't even tell the difference.

+1 yUnfortunately I'd have to go with Biden again. I just can't vote for someone who's actively trying to take away people's bodily autonomy.
354 Reply- +1 y
Talk about being selfish. What about the bodily autonomy of the unborn?
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill what about it? What unborn are being denied life saving and doctor approved medical care? Or do you mean the unborn who are unfortunately not going to make it out alive, regardless what medical care they get, and yet their parent who could be saved is forced to die with them bc politicians decided the doctors who save those lives should go to prison?
I absolutely agree that people who give birth shouldn't be denied bodily autonomy either. Regardless of whether their child is born or unborn. Which is also why i could never vote for desantis, even if he did agree I should have autonomy. Good point I was being selfish. - +1 y
I wasn’t talking about women being denied life saving care. I was talking more about the majority of women who are indifferent to murdering a human life if they consider it to be a personal inconvenience
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill wow I didn't know about that. Whenever I look up murder stats it always says men do that way more than women. Ig the police or the government or somebody must be lying about the crime rates n shit. Not surprising ngl. But I don't know what that has to do with desantis its not like he's ever promised to make it *harder* to kill anybody.
- +1 y
Abortion is murder. Why shouldn’t I consider a fully formed fetus to be a human person?
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill lol what u mean "fully formed fetus"? A fetus is a forming baby, forming kid, forming adolescent, forming adult! Takes so fucking long for anything human-persony to be "fully formed". it certainly don't finish in the womb.
- +1 y
Anyway even if u do wanna say it's fully formed in that kinda part way way, that still don't get to that level of "fully formed" until 3rd trimester. So what u got against abortions?
- +1 y
So you don’t consider an 8 week fetus human enough? www.babycenter.com/.../8-weeks-pregnant
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill ur the one who said "fully formed" ur the one who brought any standards for humanness into this. I don't give a shit.
- +1 y
Well then I guess you are just psychopathic. Thanks for proving some people just really need help these days.
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill why am I the psychopath? Ur the one saying humans have to be human enough to have rights.
- +1 y
And my argument is that a fetus does qualify as being human enough to be considered human
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill OK cool. So y u arguing w me?
- +1 y
Because you gave me the impression you were in favor of abortions
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill I'm not in favor of abortions I'm in favor of bodily autonomy. That's why I said I was lol
- +1 y
Being in favor of bodily autonomy counts as being pro-choice
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill yes obviously. If I was pro-forced birth, then I'd only believe some people should have bodily autonomy. But I believe everyone should have it. That's not what I was referring to in my initial opinion tho, bc in my state abortion is already banned. So in my life desantis being elected wouldn't change that. That's why I said I had been selfish in my reasoning, because I had only considered the rights that people in my state still had that would be taken away if he was elected. I hadn't considered there's even more shit he could do on a national level to take away even more people's rights.
- +1 y
But you’re still totally ok with a woman aborting a fetus at 8 weeks, even if it isn’t for a medical or health safety reason?
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill it doesn't matter what I'm okay with. It isn't my choice, it's hers. Between her and her doctor. I don't think she should be forced to give birth by some political dipshit. Pregnancy is dangerous enough even without complications, and she would know best if she's ready and able to care for a (or another) baby. In a way I'm lucky that I'll never have to make that choice myself.
- +1 y
But why should it be her choice if it’s an act comprable to murder?
- +1 y
And just out of curiosity, do you know what the mortality rate from pregnancy is today?
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill how is someone not letting a new person grow in their already grown body comparable to murder? (Rhetorical question to illustrate that it is not in fact comparable to murder. Do not answer.)
Just out of curiosity, do you know that maternal mortality rates dropped by 50% when abortion was legalized, and that the mortality rate is still notably higher in states where abortions are restricted? - +1 y
Uhm. Maybe just the fact that the fetus itself is still a living being, even if not fully developed.
- +1 y
And the Southern states have more shitty healthcare than the west coast and Northeast so that part isn’t really surprising.
- +1 y
Especially when also factoring in the general health of the people in those states. Far more diabetics and clinically unhealthy people in the South
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill u think 50% of pregnant people coincidentally stopped being unhealthy & having shitty Healthcare the exact year abortion was first legalized?
- +1 y
No that’s what you were saying. You said that as soon as it was legalized, rates dropped by 50% overnight
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill lol not overnight, over the next year (info taken by years). And no I didn't think that was because people suddenly got healthier or got better coverage. I thought it was pretty clearly due to abortions being legalized. Because that's the big change that happened in maternal Healthcare that year, which would explain a big change in maternal mortality rates.
- +1 y
And I’d like to see the data for that. 50% in one year doesn’t sound realistic at all
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill
"In 1972, the year before Roe v. Wade, the rate of maternal mortality in the United States was 34 deaths for every 100,000 births. In 1973, after legalization of abortion, the rate declined by 50%."
--“Troubling news: Maternal mortality is on the rise,” by Robert L. Barbieri, MD - +1 y
Ok, but that still doesn’t morally justify the excess of deaths that legalizing abortion has caused. Abortion might’ve made it easier for women to abort for medical reasons, but that still doesn’t take away the fact that most women aren’t aborting for medical reasons
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill I would say if it's for any reason outside the person's control, including medical reasons as well as financial reasons (such as already having kids to feed and not being able to afford another; you don't want all the kids to starve), life situation reasons (such as having an abusive partner; don't want kid to get or parent to get hurt/killed), etc. But I also don't think medical decisions—even life and death ones—should be scrutinized by politicians and strangers who don't know their situation. Abortions are medical care. They shouldn't have to pass a moral test to get one. The best option should be decided between individuals and their doctors like any medical shit—especially controversial ones. Like abortion, euthanasia, etc
- +1 y
Disagree. Those other reasons can be sorted out through adoption centers
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill bro how? U know one of the leading cause of death for pregnant women is homicide? U know what it cost just to give birth in a hospital—let alone if there any complications during giving birth? Fucking ridiculous. Vote for better, free Healthcare & defund/regulate the police (50% domestic abusers) if u want pregnant people to be safe choosing adoption rather than abortion.
- +1 y
I agree there are more things that can be done, but regardless that still doesn’t morally justify abortion.
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill abortion doesn't need to be "morally justified" any more than any other medical shit. U don't ask someone to morally justify their getting heart surgery with 50% survival rate, or a person to justify getting chemo that can leave them infertile & wreck their immune system. Or morally justify choosing euthanization out of few options they have. It's between patient and doctor. Land of the free right?
- +1 y
Uhm no because with abortion the fetus is literally guaranteed to be killed, and doesn’t have the choice of consenting either
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill the fetus doesn't need to consent, the adult consents bc they the one getting the shit done to them. The fetus just dies, it don't know any different like as if it was never alive. This shit happens at like 6-8 weeks or earlier lol it's the adult who is gonna have to go through the procedure & live w the consequences of choice (abort or have baby). Baby ain't never had no say in it that's not new to abortion
- +1 y
U know that there's lots of medical procedures that guaranteed kill a fetus, & people can still get them done by choice, right? Like chemo for example. This isn't unique. This isn't an abortion issue fetuses just don't get a say in medical shit. Sorry
- +1 y
So in other words, a fetus isn’t important enough to matter to you. It doesn’t deserve a chance to live?
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill no, it's just not "important enough" to matter more than an adult to medicine in general. Lol did u not read what I said?
- +1 y
A fetus is a living being inside a woman’s body. I believe it deserves a chance to try and live a fulfilling life.
I’m afraid you just don’t care though.
If people want to make decisions that only affect them, that’s fine, but getting an abortion is a decision that affects the fetus as well. - +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill ur dumb or what? U not read? Abortion isn't unique. There's lots of other medical shit that a pregnant adult gets to decide about even tho it will definitely also effect the fetus. That's just how medicine works cuz the fetus be inside the adults body. Like u can't just say "I believe the fetus should get to live" cuz it's not that simple. It never is. It's fucking medicine have u never had to do any medical shit? It always has an effect on ur body. So whenever there's fetus involved in ANY medical shit it's gonna be effected bc it's fucking INSIDE someone else's body. & the someone else is who gets to decide on that medical shit. Bc it's their body.
- +1 y
Well yeah but unless that medicine is absolutely essential or something, they should still refrain from using it.
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill "they should" is your opinion. Whether they actually do is between the patient and doctor. Just like abortion. Just like any medical shit.
- +1 y
But you’re still diminishing the value of a fetus as being so unimportant its not even worth consideration.
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill I'm not. Medicine is. If u have a problem with it u have a problem with medicine in general, not abortion. Cuz guess what happens even if abortion is banned worldwide? All that other medical shit that the adult can decide regardless of the fetus, still happens. So why don't u start going against the whole fucking system instead of targeting 1 specific thing that won't change shit about how a fetus is viewed except making more of their parents die?
- +1 y
So in other words, you believe in assigning higher priority to medicine that a person can go without (as I specified in the question) than a fetus’s chance to live?
- +1 y
I get that some stuff is essential but much of the stuff doctors drug people on isn’t essential. A lot of it is just “weight loss pills” and things people can easily go without.
- +1 y
Also I can tell this is clearly going nowhere. If you don’t give two flying f*cks about a fetus than just say it.
You’ve been saying this entire time that a woman should have the right to decide whatever the f*ck she wants regardless of the fetus.
- +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill I'm saying you can't make that specification "high priority medicine" bc humans are too fucking complicated for that simple divide between "okay" and "not okay" disregard of the fetus in favor of the adult who actually has the medical problem. Very likely is that where u think the line is is different from where I'd put the line, & where any Dr would put the line, etc. Where WE rlly disagree is that I don't think politicians should be in charge of placing a universal "Okay "not okay" line in medicine that they don't know jack shit about. Especially when they don't involve themselves in almost any other case of serious medical procedure—regardless of the fact that fetuses are being disregarded in plenty of other medical procedures. The big fuss over abortion is just a fucking obvious political play for power over women. And since you still don't realize that even after all we've discussed & u didn't know, I think ur right that we won't get anywhere further in this discussion. Guess what? That's what I thought to begin with. That's why I initially didn't want to discuss abortion. Bc I knew nobody against abortion actually gives a thumbs about the medical facts of the discussion. & bc my opinion to this question was never even about abortion in the first place. So I hope u found this discussion informative I any capacity, bc I've found it just another fucking waste of time like it always is.
- +1 y
Well you’ve been a rude POS this entire time so I didn’t quite enjoy the discussion either. You’re dumb as a rock by the way. But far as I’m concerned, your final destiny is to rot in hell but I really do hope you repent and see the error of your ways.
I’m just surprised you’d be totally ok with a woman using weight loss pills while pregnant if that is what she desired. Its like you have more trust for doctors and the pharmaceutical industry than they rightfully deserve. Have you seen just how much they charge for medical procedures or basic medications these days?
Its not even about helping people anymore, but just banking in money any way they can. They’ve lied to me before in the past, and told me I’ve needed all sorts of things when I was better off just not using the medications outright.
And do you have any idea how many school shooters were using these “totally safe” medications? Practically all of them.
There just really isn’t enough research done on the effects of a lot of the stuff that’s been circulating around. And by the way, that’s how the whole opiod epidemic came into being. When the FDA approves a medicine they don’t even conduct their own studies. They simply review the research that other companies sent them. Of which can easily be forged.
Also it isn’t about “controlling women”. Look at the topic of abortion. Its actually pretty 50/50 in terms of women who support and oppose abortion rights. Its about right and wrong. Caring about life, or considering it unimportant next to one’s own desires. If I really cared about controlling women, I’d be calling for Shariah law and telling them what to wear and where they could and couldn’t go. - +1 y
@WhiteBoyChill well that makes 2 of us lol. & again, this isn't about my personal moral standards. This is about EVERYONE having their own personal moral standard & not being forced to comply to 1 arbitrary persons standards about their own literal BODY that can and DOES serious hurt a lot of people. If u don't trust Dr's that's fine. U know what u can do? Not listen to them in ur own, private life. Bc its your decision. & if I do trust Dr's, then I can listen to them in my own private life, bc it's my decision. & if u think all that shit cost too much then cool, we agree that capitalism = shitty healthcare & exploitative practices. It would be much better if on a system that made healthcare free for all. And I think that's as good a note to end on as any so have a good day I hope u don't rot in hell bc that's a fucking horrible thing to wish on anyone. Bye
- +1 y

+1 yWhat makes you think DeSantis will be the Republican candidate when he is trailing Trump by a gigantic 30 points in the polls and the gap is getting even bigger with each new poll?
114 Reply- +1 y
That’s because conservatives are having a (justifiable) emotional reaction to what’s happening to Trump. And this all part of the leftist elitist scheme: boost Trump in the primaries and then have him lose to Biden in the general election.
The left is really more terrified of DeSantis. - +1 y
@RingOfFire it's fair to say if Trump is in prison he can't run and Desanctis is probably the guy. Not trying to start an argument over whether or not anyone believes trump should be in prison but it's possible at this point.
- +1 y
1. If he is elected president before the trial there is no possibility he will be in prison.
2. There is no law that prevents someone in prison from becoming president.
3. If he is sent to prison, and Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are not, there may be a civil war in which case the entire issue would be moot. - +1 y
@RingOfFire Yes I agree with above. But it’s not republicans or democrats who decide elections. It’s independents and swing voters.
In 2016 the undecided/independents voted for Trump 2 to 1. In 2020 they voted for Biden 2 to 1.
General elections nowadays are more and more (sadly) about voting AGAINST the candidate you don’t like. In 2016 more people (quietly) disliked HRC then Trump. Then in 2020 lots of people (very openly) voted AGAINST Trump. In fact that’s the ONLY reason I’ve heard the vast majority of Democrat and independent voters say they voted for Biden.
DeSantis is going to be much more appealing to independent voters in a general election. Democrat elitists know this and they WANT Trump to get the nomination. The left needs Trump more then the right does right now to get the negative attention off Biden. - +1 y
I agree that the reason the Democrats had their crooked prosecutors file an indictment against Trump on the very day that the documents showing Joe Biden was involved in a foreign bribery scheme with Burisma were finally pried out of the FBI files under threat of contempt of Congress was to divert attention away from that fact.
As to "Independents" ...
Deep State Democrat operatives in the FBI and other US government intelligence agencies covered up the Hunter Biden laptop before the 2020 election to rig it for Biden. Polls consistently show that had the public known about it (as they somewhat do now in spite of the media's attempt to prevent them from knowing) that it would have persuaded enough Independents to vote for Trump for him to have won handily. - +1 y
Well do you think one man Trump and a barely republican house will be able to rectify this bs for a fair 2024 election?
What I am seeing in a dangerous emotional attachment to Trump from the right. You can thank him for having good policy during his term and proving you CAN fight back. But Trump derangement syndrome is a real thing. Sure leftys hate DeSantis but with Trump is turns people into zombies.
I voted for Trump twice but I am ready to move on. His message used to be “I am taking a bullet for you” but lately especially with the latest indictment it’s been “take a bullet for me”.
Also I know you are bit older. But what’s better for optics when it comes to debates? An 81 year old senile Biden vs. a fresh faced 45 year old DeSantis or Biden vs Trump again? If Trump gets the nomination it takes away from the glaring issue of Biden’s advanced age. DeSantis could drink a whole bottle of NyQuil and look more awake then Biden. Optics matter a whole lot.
And if Trump gets elected then great. He can only serve four years. Democrats will use that as an excuse to promote a far leftist candidate like Joseph Stalin next. - +1 y
@RingOfFire Your civil war that you think is going to happen is based on your belief Biden and Clinton are guilty.
You aren't on the inside of anything and are unfortunately brainwashed. I can't tell if you're pro civil war or just thinking it will happen if people like yourself don't hear what they want to be true about Biden or Clinton.
The reality is the FBI could give two craps about republicans or democrats. if they get fired they'll make more in the private sector. Your idea that Biden controls the FBI is another conspiracy you ill informed folks use to say violence is coming if you don't do what we want. Currently your belief is he owns the FBI but the second they do something you favor they're legitimate. The second they don't they're no good lol.
Say they're all criminals. Trump is the dumbest of them all for not cooperating and not keeping his stupid mouth shut. You're all pretending you are lawyers when they indictment clearly stated his wrongdoings and his admission is recorded.
If you're pro civil war if trump goes down and Biden doesn't you're an animal. If you think Trump is innocent well time will tell to be official but you wouldn't believe anything you don't want to hear anyway. - +1 y
And if trump goes down it will be his own lawyers and aides could be the ones that testify against him that do him in because he's a liar and put them all in a bad spot.
- +1 y
@blueonblack22 how is TDS any different than the way most republican voters think about Biden? Lol you're all so hypocritical
- +1 y
@Friendlybro79 1) thanks for butting into this conversation when it was really between me and @RingOfFire. Very “friendly” bro.
2. Tell me exactly how often you hear the phrase “Biden supporter”. Do you see republicans hating and disassociating with anybody who voted for Biden? We got more reason to because unless you are living on a different planet (maybe you are) the Biden administration has fucked up our economy and hyper inflated the American dollar.
Nah liberals definitely acted with extreme animus towards ANYbody who voted for Trump during his term (and even after). It’s HRCs “deplorables” comments. It’s Karine Jean-Pierre’s “maga supporter” comments. Also Republicans weren’t putting up multicolored lawn signs during the 2020 election.
But I get it. The idea is to bring Trump back to get the negative attention off Biden. Not falling for it. @desantis2024 - +1 y
@blueonblack22 Yes I butted in because this is a public conversation not DMs lol. Sorry that means I'm not friendly if I disagree you and chime in to voice my opinion. You didn't have to reply if you felt attacked or triggered my reply sir.
How often I hear Biden supporter? What a non valuable point. This isn't proving anything lol. I do hear it and see flags on yards but haven't kept count. Silly.
Trump supporters in my area disassociate by posting paragraphs of signs on their yard blasting Biden... that said so what that's anecdotal but it happens in conversation with friends and family. They all flip out on Biden, be call, and do exactly what you're accusing the other side of. You're not speaking in anything factual just anecdotal and nice deflection. Still looking for or expecting civil war with me over us disagreeing politcally and if your guy goes down and the other doesn't? Disassociated from the guy that is saying civil war is coming because you're guy is a criminal and might be held accountable. Sorry if the truth makes me sound unfriendly. That said I don't wish you harm, wish you well, and hope you can find a way to stay clear of violence if you don't get the verdict you want. I also don't mean to allude you said you would hence why I stated earlier when I wasn't able sure if you mean you sit think a civil war will come or if you meant it's warranted and just if he gets a guilty verdict.

@Friendlybro79 I did butt in looking back. I also overreacted a bit. Sorry.
Personally I dealt with a real life cancel culture situation back in 2014 (before the name for “cancel culture” existed). I’m no red neck. Never owned a maga cap. Never worshipped trump. But that past incident (and I didn’t understand it at the time) has left with me a real deep seated hatred towards leftists. Then I saw cancel culture was actually a wide spread thing during Trump’s term I hated them even more.
With all that said I want someone who can win and gets shit done. That’s not Trump anymore for damn sure. But it could be DeSantis. - +1 y
