Why Isn't Military Appreciation Month As Heavily Promoted As LGBTQ Pride Month Is?

Military Appreciation Month is May, which the vast majority of people (including me who's in the Military) had no idea of. LGBTQ Pride Month Is June, as many of already know due to how "in your face" it is.

"Someone" implies one person, yes, so that's where I got that. About the "in your face" part. It is not shameful or looked down upon to be in the military. There is less incentive to celebrate being in the military than being in a group that is finally accepted as valid after many many years of oppression. It's like celebrating liberation while not celebrating not being conquered.

@crmoore if anything, people in the army receive more respect than most people with other professions. You can quote a bunch of random comments but that doesn't change a thing. The slander is but a smudge in comparison to the praise and respect. You don't see people actively hiding the fact that they work in the military after all. Not in the past and not now.
I also forgot to add a more down to earth argument. One is about your identity and freedom, the other is about a job. 'This is me' vs 'I work here'. See the difference?

It's 4 am and I want to sleep, didn't realize this notification was for a debate but I think you're underestimating to what extent those in military are chastised. You can say the guy I referenced is random and I can say the people you're saying hate in gay people are random. The fact of the matter is both of these demographics have a sizeable amount of both hate and support.

And I'd argue someone's occupation of is an identity. Just because someone chose that path doesn't mean it isn't their identity.

And depending on where you are, people absolutely may hide the fact that they're military. And you can say gay people might be hiding to a larger degree and I'd say it's unwarranted (and this is coming from a bisexual man). A vast, vast, VAST majority of people who find out you're gay do not care in the slightest. It's as normalized as can be. The only people making it seem otherwise are a very small portion of conservatives (often religious) and gay people themselves who still crave that special feeling they used to get when they told people they were gay.
