This is such an angry country.

Would you be willing to advocate for peace?

Sadly, I think human mind is wired to cause chaos. We can only allow ourselves to live in peace for a certain amount of time.

We only appreciate peace when it’s gone. We generally take everything for granted. We take it for granted that we can wake up everyday and know that our homes won’t be bombed.

We create problems even when there are none necessary. When the only thing you need to do is to live and let live.

Even during the times of peace, we find the reasons to fight.

I don’t think advocating would do anything good. It would not teach people to be less angry.

Instead what I found to be helpful, growing up in a family, where there was fight every single day, I realized it’s important to not take things seriously and when you see someone’s angry, find the reason for their anger, then instead of getting provoked by their anger, just speak peacefully and find out, what’s something that made them so upset.

I figured when you try to understand people and see the reason they act the way they do, it makes them kinder, less angrier and it generally makes the whole situation more friendly.

Other than that it has no benefit to advocate peace, unless you set an example of peace to others, it’s easy to be angry, aggressive. It’s very easy.

My brother and I talked yesterday that people generally take more pleasure doing “bad” things than “good” things. So, we need more effort being kind, than we need to be cruel. Because humans are destructive creatures.

So, I believe showing people the example of the peace and the satisfaction that comes with it, will have more benefits than advocating.

    Why should we be angry?

It can’t help you get anything.

And this strategy works well, until someone decides you might be weak for not fueling the anger and instead responding it peacefully, they might try taking advantage of you, unless you stand on your ground firmly and let them know that you choose peace, not because you are weak or scared of confrontations, but because you have just had enough and don’t want any more of the childish tantrums in your life.

I also tend to imagine people as little kids, when they are being annoying or angry, seeing them as little kids, makes me more patient and less prone to getting angry.

After all, they really are big children.

I also find this helpful in personal relationships.

When my partner was angry, I would let him speak, I would listen peacefully and then tell him that I was sorry he was so frustrated and I would not take his words close to my heart because they were coming out of anger, but I would consider what he said and try to work on that. Then we kissed and we talked on that topic when both of us were less emotional.

He had anger issues and was angry very often.

However, I think he learned from me because on a few occasions when I was angry instead of him, he answered exactly the same way very peacefully “I am sorry I caused you to be that hurt, I know your anger comes out of pain not the will to hurt me, so I am here to listen and I won’t be hurt by anything you say. We can talk how to solve this problem later when both of us feel less emotional. I love you.”

You see? That’s the setting the example I meant, I could get angry for him being angry, but instead my reactions set an example for him. And his words instantly made me feel regretful If I accidentally hurt him and instead made me willing to cooperate.

I think peace is possible… I don’t know how to make it possible or how to make it more prevalent but maybe the first step would be to make it impossible for people to benefit from conflict

I believe it's possible, but all sides have to want it. I don't actually believe either side does, because "war" is what keeps them in power.

I've spent my whole career living the quote that "peace is best achieved at the end of a gun"... nobody wants me to advocate.

It is never too late to advocate if you believe in it.

I meant it differently. ;) My methods of advocating are at the end of a gun. I'm the guy the call in as last resort. I get the call when diplomacy has failed, so how I "advocate" isn't an appropriate skill set domestically.

The anger is purposefully stoked by our elite as a tool of manipulation to preserve their power. I believe there will be peace after the current elites are cleared out and replaced by a more competent counter-elite.

Yes I believe in peace. I live each day as it was my last; life is to shirt and precious to live bitter. I choose drama free.

I want peace. But unfortunately I also recognize that sometimes reasonable people will have fundamental disagreements, and the resources are limited, so conflict may be inevitable.

Peace does not mean the absence of conflict. Yes, we are in a pressure cooker and I don't see a peaceful way out right now.

Peace is a pipe dream and contrary to our nature. It makes us softer, weaker and complacent. I won't advocate for that. But if that's what you all want, I won't stop you.

I believe in peace for a certain amount of time then after a while, I believe humans create their own chaos to balance that peace

I believe in peace but peace is only possible if the other side is willing to be peaceful otherwise one must fight or get destroyed.
