What causes mass shootings more: Psychopathy or Depression?

I am not a professional and I don’t really know, as I’ve not read any scientific literature regarding this topic - but judging from my common sense - I think trauma and depression, might be a more common reason.

However, they might be higher on psychopathic spectrum than others, but I wouldn’t think most are psychopaths.

Psychopaths are part of our lives. I believe psychopathy evolved as a way to contribute to the society, there are far more psychopaths that effectively contribute to the society than the ones that turn into serial killers. We never get to know them, yet they might be sleeping in our bed. Oh, chills. I bet you wouldn’t want to sleep with a psychopath. What if, you already have? And you are fine, right?

I think if we had an ability to study non-criminal psychopaths, the everyday psychopaths, the ones among us - we’d have a better understanding and we’d not always picture them as monsters as we usually picture them to be.

Trauma and depression coupled with asocial tendencies can turn you into a revengeful monster, in a way that, us, society can create monsters and them blame them for being ones.

When you see someone like this, blame yourself, you and I, and other members of society created this monster. Welcome your creature and witness how it will destroy everything you loved.

I believe as a member of society, I can change lives, by being kind to people, because I know did I not have kind people around me during childhood, I’d have no idea who’d I turn out to be today.

I once read a book, there was a French executioner who saved one person from death just because this person was the only one who smiled at him and said “hello” every morning.

I think, being kind is underestimated, it can change lives and it can save lives. So, be kinder when you go out today, because there might be a lost soul walking outside and your kindness might alter his road of becoming a “monster”.

People don't do horrible things because they're depressed or psychopathic. Many people with these issues have lived well with management, with help. Some people have even had very important roles such as president of the fucking United States, while fitting a diagnosis.

And you don't need to be depressed or psychopathic to do horrible things. You just have to believe horrible lies. The biggest cause of mass shootings right now is the baked-in culture of hate, fear, disgust, and rage. That shit always stirs up violence, no matter who it's directed at. And that violence always escalates. Sometimes beyond the point of return.

These people area all largely productive members of society. Most people with depression are also productive members of society. I think It's oversimplification to say one or the other causes mass shootings. I think an inability to deal with conflict/society causes mass shootings, and that inability to deal with conflict can be present in the depressed or the psychopathic (or psychotic... or people with OCD... or those with DID... or...)

You go out and do you think behavior like working on a Pizza Hut. Yes, the actual ones. Keep in mind that not all psychopaths are criminals - many are CEO's cops, etc. The ones that get identified publicly are a small minority. I am unaware of any correlation between Psychopathy and the rain, but I AM aware of correlations between rain, depression, and suicide.

So many factors go into what impacts our mental health and negative life situations can have on people, especially if they do not respond to life like the rest of us.

Also, if an event or situation is very negative, then our minds can alter. Whether it's trauma, drugs, or someone who we look up to misguiding us. It's not as straight forward as "hate these people" but they propose it in that way that makes you think you're helping people. I think it is because people feel marginalized. They have had their voice silenced. A lot of these shooters are kids who were bullied or members of fringe groups. Nobody wants to be ignored and have their needs not met, especially when they see others getting special treatment. After exhausting all the normal channels they get frustrated, get some guns and ammo and go down to the local school and start shooting.
