It's actually, "negro". One one hand, it means, "black", on the other, I assume it's a kind of shortened slang version of Nigerian and n** is just the bastardization of the word, "negro".

allegedly. he was never charged. I watch many independent progressive new outlets that would have had no problem covering this story--none did. I've seen pictures of him wearing masks. also, keep in mind that someone did the same thing to Buttigieg, too--that was proven to be a lie. plus, that exchange seems like it was exaggerated--and, I don't say that just because I like Cuomo.

I was watching Roland S. Martin's show. he won't allow the N_____ word to be used but, is okay with the term negro and that made no sense.

It is racist because of the connotations that come with it. N*gg*r does not simply mean black. Racist people may refer to a black person as such but it has other connotations to it which make it racist. Negro on the other hand is literally Spanish and Spanish speakers use it. Nothing we can do to stop that. I prefer them not to call me that word but I know they aren't trying to be racist if they do.

I don't recall if it was the first or second album but, the double album by Eric Burdon & War has a suite of songs on it, possibly the entire side (I haven't heard or seen the album in at least 30 years) based on the Rolling Stones song, "Paint It Black". At least one of the songs on the album is called, "Pantello Negro". It's just the Spanish reading of the title of, "Paint It Black".
I was working at a print hop 10 years ago and this Korean guy that got hired started calling ME "n**". The point is, I'm by no means a fan of the word and I'm pretty sure he wasn't using it to "hurt" me but, it's all about "the power" you give it to hurt or belittle you.
There's also the word, "niggardly" that has nothing to do with race, as far as I know. It just means someone that's either very stingy with their money or at least is cautious with their money, as in: someone that doesn't splurge, easily.
And, as you've said, if one who uses it is a racist then there are a LOT of black people that are racists because it's MOSTLY black people that I hear using it!!
