Four years after a historically large number of candidates ran for president, the field for the 2024 campaign is getting crowded once more, even as it is headlined by the same two aging men who faced off in 2020: President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump.

A dozen Republicans have already entered the race, and additional candidates may still join them — creating a fractured field that could prevent voters who oppose Mr. Trump from coalescing around a single alternative, just as it did in 2016.

On the Democratic side, Mr. Biden has drawn only a couple of long-shot challengers.

West has picked the wrong year to try a third party; without instant runoff voting, he's going to increase Trump's chance of winning, which would be a disaster. (Where are the Green Party candidates?)

It also sends a message to whoever is elected what the electorate really want, which usually isn't someone who says "I got 50.1%, I have a mandate to ignore the opposition!". I've listened to some recent interviews with him that have made much sense to me.
He sounds to me to be a Democrat of the time when Democrats were sensible people, 60 years or so ago.
I know nothing of him other than the few recent interviews I've seen of him.
Enlighten me if you would as to your negative view of him.

Nonspecific hearsay by family members tells me next to nothing.

I didn't comment on Steve Bannon because I know nothing of him. I vaguely recall hearing the name in the past. That's it.

I ran across Ramaswamy purely by chance on YouTube, where I spend a great deal of time.
He's all over YT.

Everything he says makes complete sense for the entire country to me.
Not the right, not the left.
The whole country.
Everyone, although some may not be able to see that his leadership is what is needed to prevent us from sinking.

His bumper stickers are on my truck, and his signs are in my yard. My donations automatically go to him, $1 at a time, twice a day, every day.

Today I would not vote for a Democrat candidate. The Democrat party is too fucked up right now, and no matter who the candidate was they would toe the fucked up Democrat party line, and we can't afford another four years of that shit.

I have voted for neither a Republican nor a Democrat candidate in both of the last two elections, and I hope I don't have to do that again next year. Bet I'll wait to see who the nominee is before deciding.

I really, really hope Trump is taken off the table by his legal problems because we also can't afford four more years of the toxic influence he has on America. But he was not all bad. He set up a SCOTUS that has done great things recently, so I have to give him credit for that.
