Interesting and uncommon but I wouldn't care people are free to do what they want. At least those people aren't going to burn car or destroy shop.
People in France too would be impressed and compliment him on his courage and would tell him they share the same view (not all but a lot love Russia in France).
My first thought might be, "Have I been transported back to the 1980's?" It wouldn't be an issue for me, I'm not a hyper-sensitive snowflake who likes to complain about flags.
Alarmed- but grateful. Openly expressing such a contentious and controversial opinion is the surest sign of strong faith in a free society. Only a country that genuinely allowed free speech would tolerate such a thing.
I'd assume they were an evil devil worshiping globohomo. Symbolism links a connected story...

The sickle symbolizes Saturn... and not agriculture, farming, or harvesting wheat LOL Because it ain’t like people ever used sickles to harvest wheat 🤦♂️ 😆 🤣
@Agagagagaga Ah yes because communism is known for their abundance of food... It's not like the Ukrainians weren't starved during the Holodomor or the Jews during the Holocaust or the Chinese during the Great Leap Forward or the Ethiopians during their resettlement programs to revolutionize farmer... Currently were in another great communist plot called the Food Chain Reaction Game and look how there is just so much food that it just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper and cheaper right? What a moron.
“birth”
Autocorrect is a bitch when you’re talking with a cretin.
What are you selling little kids to your pedo friends? Oh by the way one of your ANTIFA butt buddies just got caught by the Hungarian police with 70,000 graphic pedophilia recordings depicting the torture and rape of small children. Birds of a feather, flock together... His body was found after he carried out a ritual at a Soviet-era military site before he hung himself. Time is running out for your comrades... The walls are closing in on you.
@Agagagagaga If you don't like the religious and spiritual angle @rigamarole took about it, then go read Ayn Rand, who, in the most atheistic way possible, outlined just how evil Communism was and is.

It's not the RUSSIAN flag, which, since the unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine has taken on a lot more political meaning.
Soviet Russia, and the USSR, wasn't innately any worse than the average government, it just didn't work out. Some people loved it, some people hated it. That said, there was a LOT of turmoil when the wall fell, and a lot of people fled to get away from it. This person may simply be one of those people.
I'm an American, if the United States fell, and I had to flee, it wouldn't matter where I was, at heart I will always be an American, and despite how much I disagree with our government some years, I will always proudly fly the flag.
The only exception to this is Nazis, they don't get a pass.
The Soviet government killed a hell of a lot more innocent people than the Nazis did, and were able to do only because of the very totalitarian traits inherent to their government. It doesn't make sense to praise them as "not innately worse than average" (which in this case, IS praise) while condemning the Nazis, who did essentially the same thing, but with better fashion sense.
It wasn't just a matter of fleeing when the wall fell, it was the vast evacuations that happened when the Soviets took over that called for the wall to be built in the first place. It was the mass graves dug for the "disloyal", meaning anyone the regime objected to, and those for the loyal soldiers who saw their lives treated as just more grist for the mill. It was the vast concentration of power, on a scale never before dreamed of, which is dangerous regardless of whose hands its in or even what kind of power it is.
Don't let hatred blind you.
It is the Russian flag. The REAL Russian flag.
@NamerOfStars my point was that it's more about what that flag, and government, meant to that individual citizen.
If we are comparing atrocities, my country, the United States, definitely doesn't have clean hands. My ethnic group has as much or more to complain about in regards to harm done as we have faced a systematic genocide since the country's inception (the Trail of Tears was neither the beginning nor the end of that story) but, yet, I am proud of what we are SUPPOSED to stand for.
The reason I pointed out thr Nazis as an exception is because there are few alive today who are old enough to remember living under Nazi rule, so anyone who celebrates them today are celebrating an idea, and it is an idea that is broadly understood to be vile. There are plenty of people today who were adults in the USSR, and the internal atrocities, like the internal atrocities of the United States, are not as widely known.
There's no hate, there's nobody to hate. There's no one person to hate, even with the Nazis... atrocities on that level require a group effort.
@Siri137 OK, let's not confuse normal Russian nationalism (and the Ukranian hyper-nationalism that caused it) with the evil of Communism. Putin is much more an old fashioned Tsar today, regardless of his roots.
Soviet flag has two meanings. Either they liked the KGB and Stalin or they liked Lenin original vision way before KGB and Stalin did everything.
Both have vastly difference ways of how I would feel about them.
As I would agree with Lenin. But disagree with nut jobs who liked Stalin.
Same as the Nazi flag or the confederates flag: it must be someone who lives in the past.
Otherwise: I find all flags to be somewhat silly.
I view any flag as protected speech. But I'd also assume they hadn't read much history - the Soviet Union was pretty miserable.
@Siri137 The US is far from perfect, but conditions here seem far better than in the old Soviet Union or Maoist China. Its probably true that the very poorest were better off in the USSR than in the US, but the Gulags were far worse than even the US prison system. The lower and middle class are far better off than they were in the USSR. China was awful - Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution were worse than anything in the US since slavery
I would think they are a young idiot who hopes that the country will give them the lifestyle they cannot be bothered to earn for themselves. Even the Russians don’t believe in the Soviet society anymore. I actually travelled in the Soviet Union when it was around and also after it broke up. There is a huge difference in their quality of life now.
@Siri137 no they aren’t worse now. I have been there before and after the Soviet Union. I saw what they ate, I saw even their terrible underwear. I saw their store, restaurants, lines, cars and desire for much more. Gray and dull is how I would describe their lives. The party elite lived better but not as good as the average American at the time. They are constrained today by criminal organizations and their government. That may change in the near future as the Ukraine war plays out.
I say this as a member of the former Communist Party of my country - that it wouldn't be very good taste, but we didn't ban it like we banned the Russian and Ukrainian flags in public.
Perhaps we should ban the Soviet flag as well.
I wouldn't care. My father thought he was a communist. He didn't seem to understand that in a communist country he wouldn't be allowed to practice his religion. He had a lot of crazy ideas.
The modern leftists in the west pretty much are doing this already. But their flag is just colored differently and they use “victim” groups as facade for what they really want: communism.
I would be horrified. But sadly, there are millions of DUPES like this in the world today, and they simping for a system that made even the horrid National Socialism look good in some respects.
Indifferent. It’s for a country that hasn’t existed in decades.
I’d guess that they have some political views I probably think are ignorant.
that is the problem they NOW call is s. u. and desire reassembled
As someone from a former Soviet Union Country, I’d think they are crazy, and not in a good way.
It's a free country the only traditional thing is if you hang both the Russian and American flag together the American flag should always be above the Russian flag if hung in America and vice versa if the two flags were hung in Russia.
some countries only allow an external flag if with the local flag. i like that limitation to compell showing loyalty but not replace.
As an Eastern European who's parents escaped the ravages of socialist Russia, I'd feel offended.
I really dont pay flags much mind so i probably wouldn't notice it until someone pointed it out
We are supposed to be living in a free country. Able to freely express ourselves. So, as long as they abide by our laws and not offended by others flying the American flag. They should be able to do so.
Probably roll my eyes or shake my head and go about the rest of my day.
I would think that they are foolish and some kind of attention whore.
"Oh wow that looks a lot like it's none of my business"
Nothing. Its a little bit weird when people fly flags in general, but i got no problem with them.
Same with any flag. None of my business.
I would wonder if they fell asleep in 1989 and just woke up.
I think that that person needs history lessons and I keep walking enjoying my freedom.
Not in my lifetime. Th USSR folded the year after I was born.
I'd assume they know nothing of history and continue with my day.
I suppose it's no better or worse than a confederates flag.
The confederacy had a right to secede but it was never going to be permanent secession. It was a brief fight to stand up for the principles of states rights
They didn't want to be bullied into submission by people who don't care about them, and that's pretty based.
We need to see another confederacy to fight back against the federal government forcing it's will on everyone else
I'd laugh, but then I'd also report their commie ass to MI5, or whatever its called.
Simples...
sweet!
Oof that’s a good question. I imagine a lot of people would lose their minds over it.
I personally would be like “wow” and then go back to whatever it was that I was doing.
Agry and i will tare it apart knowing that Polish and Czech people will suport me and protect me.
Just ignore than and pray for them.
I'd think they're another ignorant loser, or just another sadist who loves seeing people suffer
Well considering the Soviet Union is no more I'd assume they were pushing thier love of COMMUNISM?
Uhh I was in a college dorm. We wore the Soviet flag.
No big deal
Government make Russia look bad but i don't have to follow
Soviet Flag = bad.
Russian Flag = good
Their choice. I wouldn't care.
Don't care. Fly whatever you want.
whatever floats their boat i guess
Typical Bribem supporter.
i understood your code.
I wouldn't care.
Sick and worried
What’s theirs is mine.. isn’t that how it works?
"what a moron"
I would assume this is a woke zoomer.
Laugh
id assume they’re russian 🤷♂️
2 words. Cyka blyat.
No specific way.
Depends, where?
I would be upset
