What's wrong with flying your country's flag?

Apparently, people in the UK are upset that people are flying the Union Jack, claiming that it's a sign of white supremacy and racism.

Can someone please explain this. What is wrong with being proud of your country and flying your country's flag.

It’s about the energy behind it. Patriotism is fine and dandy.

When you fly it for displays of nativism, that sucks. That’s what’s being done in England. It’s a middle finger to non-white people, I believe specifically Muslims in their case. It’s basically English MAGA. It’s not done neutrally, it’s done with the spirit of “we’re better than you, and you can’t come here!”

If they’re at the World Cup or it’s whatever holiday of national pride they may have over there, akin to July 4th here, GREAT. Wave your flags. The enemy isn’t the patriotism; the enemy is the exclusionary attitude towards fellow human beings, and gate keeping. This isn’t being done with a smile on their faces, this is a protest.

I assumed wrong and watched the video second, I still think it applies, but as far as municipalities or the English government, I’m less informed. But there have been many protests in the streets, with men wearing the Union Jack or the cross of St. George as capes, and they’re protesting non-English people living in England. And I hope I don’t need to explain to anybody why that’s a bad thing

Bear in mind the backdrop to this is the Muslim rape gangs who preyed on white working class children. The authorities covered this up in the name of 'community cohesion'. Therefore, a vast tear has occurred in the social contract and fabric of wider society.

People in the UK generally have no issue with immigration. We just don't want mass immigration. We repeatedly voted against it, every single fucking election, every single election the will of the people was ignored. Arguably the only moral thing a government should do is listen to the will of the people, and put the interests of the British people first. The British people have a right to the destiny of their own lands, A Christian land and culture spanning over 1000 years, not some globalist fuckbags. The scale of mass immigration is absolutely insane in this country. We have a net immigration figure of almost 1 million in 2023. Pre Tony Blair net migration used to be 30000 people per year. Life has gotten demonstrably worse in every regard. No one can afford a home. Services are all infinitely worse. It's impossible to see a doctor. Traffic is insane. There's community tensions. We have lost our high trust society. Society has declined to a large degree in every single regard. Of course, the powers that be prey on a forgetfulness. But I remember. This country used to be a haven. Now it's a fucking shithole.

You’d probably think I’m a globalist, lmao. I don’t carry any membership cards, but I do see this as one Earth, and the concept of countries is dumb and human-imagined. Nothing but it's how and why they're being flown.
So far we've seen road signs and markings vandalised with red crosses sprayed on. They all look like scribbles. There have private properties vandalised with crosses. As have churches, mosques and war memorials.

As for flying them on your own property that's ok but not on lampposts or monuments etc if you look most flags aren't even the right way round.

England has never had a history of flying the st george flag expect at sports. People usually display their county flag instead. Unlike the welsh and Scottish flags which are inclusive the English flag has long been the symbol of the extreme far right. Many would argue the union Jack has gone the same way

Worth adding that openly racist political parties such as the British National Party and the National Front have always used the Union Jack as their political symbol. The English Defence League uses the St George Cross. No one in their right mind would fly either flag today

For whatever reason, the lesson a lot of people took from WW2 was that nationalism, specifically white nationalism is a huge problem. That's why the globalist and collectivist ideas have been the order of the day during the last 70 years. Nationalism is linked with conflict.

I'm not sure why they chose to learn that tidbit, as opposed to holding onto what I perceive to be the more apparent lessons; (1) that you really ought to find a way to work with the new kids on the block, instead of trying to shut them out, and (2) that being abusive in victory will only lead to future wars.

Here in the US white supremacists and extremist groups such as the proud boys and oath keepers have co-opted the Starts and Stripes, mingling it with other symbols such as nazi swatika flags, confederate naval jacks, and Norse runic symbolism (much as the nazis did. There's NOTHING wrong with flying the Union Flag in Britain. There IS something very wrong with flying the national flags of other countries on British streets other than at their embassies. Flying flags celebrating terrorist organisations like Hamas should carry a treason charge.
