Are you offended if you see a worn American flag displayed?

I honestly dont care but if you're showing the flag at all it seems like a statement of, not blind but perhaps lesser scrutiny, patriotism. Which usually goes hand in hand with following the rules. Now, in the army were were told all about respecting the flag, but it's still the sort of thing one only throws themselves into if they dont have much else to concern themselves with. But such people are quick to feel harassed if their assumptions about how people should behave start to contradict reality, so maybe don't do that.
I'm in charge of purchasing and caring for the flags in our household. Every American flag I order comes blessed by a Pastor with 2 "GOD Bless America" stickers and small bottle of holy water.
I'd retire any flag before they get obviously worn out. The old flags are properly folded the American military way, stored in the crafted box any new (replacement) flag came in and "laid to rest" buried somewhere near any of our flag poles.
When a brand new flag is about to be raised in our home for the very 1st time, we bless it with the holy water while we say a prayer. Then, the Star-Spangled Banner (instrumental version only) is played while we raise it that 1st time for that brand new flag. Yes, we take these things seriously.
Additionally, we stand in honor with every flag raising & lowering. We don't kneel.
I was thinking about this yesterday. Rode past a gas station that flies the largest flag. The flag has started ripping. They have replaced it or repaired it pretty quickly in the past, but did make a mental note in wonder how long it takes this time.
Its not offensive per say... but its not exactly respectful either, and you should never display it at night unless its lite by a light.
I mean if your trying to display your patriotism then you should follow the proper protocols... or your just making the statement that you don't give a shit. Which if you don't then whatever your kind of not right but you have the right to do whatever you want.
I would not be offended because I would assume your ignorant or are intentionally trying to provoke a response and I would give you the satisfaction, and I would not agree with you on this... but I will respect that you have the right to do whatever you want with it because we do live in America.

Being military myself I feel the flag should be maintained and kept in pristine condition when flying or on display, but I won't fault those who have them on display in whatever condition they have it in since it is their property and they are still showing support at the end of the day.
That seems so damn symbolic for America in the 21st century. Where scum like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden's masters aren't imprisoned for treason and put in front of a firing squad. I mean, I know the question isn't about that, but damn that is the perfect image for 2020s America.
As for the flag itself, I am not offended, but I do think Americans who *intentionally* abuse the flag probably should just move to another country if they hate living in the US that much.
It's the law. You can do WTF you want with the US flag. Either STFU about black people and poor people "following the law" or follow the damn laws regarding the flag yourselves. You fake arse N Korean wannabes.
yes wehave rights and freedom, agree. There's also regards to others though, and that is important. I appreciate a worn torn flag, but others may be offended. Those who have faught may take it very differently. I'm considering displaying both.
Yeah. Some people are offended that they can't murder people. It's illegal. Let them BE OFFENDED. Your personal opinion amounts to BS before the law. Sorry. These lunatic flag suckers can move to North Korea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lctn1YDwvo
I couldn't care less. It's just a piece of cloth. I don't care if it's worn out. I don't care of someone burns it. I don't care if they fly it upside down. I don't care if they piss on it an stop it into the ground. It's all symbolism and I try not to let symbolism get the better of me. None of it really matters.
I'm guessing you're Republican, because it's generally Republicans who pretend to love the flag but then ignore all the rules that are clearly in place for how to respect the flag.

That reminds me of the song ragged old flag have you ever heard it?
never, someone attached below.
No, it better represents the current state of the country.
A torn flag is offense, and even punishable by law in some countries.
The US flag code is among them. You can be prosecuted if the authorities take offense to your flag and deem it "desecration".
Tell ur neighbors it’s the original flag from some kind of glorious battle lol
I'm offended at how many people vote for politicians that SHRED your Constitutional Rights for a living. And they still praise and vote for these charlatans. That's what you really need to be angry about !
I am not offended but if my flag looked like that I would replace it. I get offended when I see somebody burn the flag or tear it down. However the good thing about America is that people have the right to do that.
Honestly I really don’t care. I’m not American but America isn’t exactly a great country to its citizens or in international affairs. Therefore, I could I respect such a country?
How could I respect such a country?*
Nope, flags don't mean much to me. My neighbor has one on his truck that's caked in mud and what I assume is a oil stain
I'd sooner see a worn out US Flag, than a brand new ISIS flag.
isn't it against the law?
this from wikipedia...
When a flag is so tattered that it no longer fits to serve as a symbol of the United States, it should be replaced in a dignified manner, preferably by burning. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, TrailLife USA, the military and other organizations regularly conduct dignified flag retirement ceremonies.[7]
didn't know that...
@AndrésC64 i am sorry but it seems you dont know your own laws

No, I am not American.
I would wonder though why the disrespect.
I appreciate it looking worn, to me it shows character. I'd rather have a ragged flag from iwo jima with blood on it flying over the congress building.
I have one with the incessant summer sun and strong winds we have here, I only get at best 6 months, faded and usually getting a bit frayed.
I would never let it get in that condition showed here.
I don’t care what anyone does with an American flag, they could wipe their ass with it for all i care
Then go back to Africa
that's fine, just realize a lot of people paid the price to have the right to say that. try that in china and end up donating organs.
WhiteBoyChill go back to where, where do you suggest I go since I have no idea where my roots lie not to mention I wasn’t born in Africa so I wouldn’t be “going back” anywhere idiot 😂😂😂
lightbulb27 👌
Ok. Then leave the country and find somewhere you like
WhiteBoyChill 😂 why because I don’t care what someone does with a piece nylon and polyester 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No but because you’re bothered by what the piece of cloth represents and it means nothing to you
Yeah it means nothing to me because it’s a piece of cloth
Then clearly our country also means nothing to you so you should find somewhere that does mean something to you
No country means anything to me because they are just areas to live, nothing less and nothing more
Have you ever tried living in another country? How about Somalia? Bet you’ll feel perfectly safe down there.
I don’t maybe I would 😂
Exactly. I’m guessing you probably feel perfectly safe where you live right now but try someplace else
I can name 5 countries off of the top of my head that are safer than America
Than go to them
Naw I’m good, have too much family here 🤗
Then be happy and take them with you
😂 I am still trying to figure out if you are an idiot or a troll
It should be taken down and properly folded and replaced with a new flag. Dispose of it properly as to how the US Flag Code says to.
I don't think offended is the right word. I do believe that some organizations try to promote standards. But there is nothing illegal about it.
I don' t feel offended unless its being burnt intentionally. But I would replace a torn one as soon as ossible. :)
it's pretty much a perfect representation of the state this nation is in.
Yes because it isn’t right and needs to be burned by an organization that can burn flags ex. Boy Scouts
American flags look best when they're on fire.
Not at all. Still showing support at the end of the day
Honestly, I probably wouldn’t even notice!
That's easy, take the flag down fold it up and put it on the kitchen table then hold down 55 year old Lightbulb27 and cut his head off with a dull knife and put his head on the flag pole and there is our new flag.
that was true at one time, and some places. so much for freedom...
I like the look of a tattered flag
I'd take it down for you if I saw that.
