Why does it seem like crime keeps getting worse?

Everyday it feels like more young men are choosing to join gangs and sell drugs sadly. What’s causing this problem in North America? In the early 2000s I could walk around LA and NYC without seeing drug dealers, being hassled, seeing disturbed teenagers smoking weed and causing problems for the most part.

Its broadcasted more and more. You got 24/7 news feeds, that way it appears to be on the rise.

Also we are now in the 5th or 6th crisis in a row, each crisis has hit the poorest people and middle class people like a sledgehammer, and made them even poorer, if you got nothing left, most people have no other choice but to use illegal activities to make a living.

Because it is. All across the country since biden was elected crime had doubled in most big cities. There are DAs that don't prosecute crimes like shoplifting, drug dealing or tearing down statues of famous generals or burning police cars. We have a two teired justice system and as long as you are one of the protected class you can do anything you want.

I mean it seems drastically worse after the pandemic but the problems escalated the problems were visually worse in 2018 than they were in 2010 for example.
