I'm not much into politics but is it just me or are the candidates and leaders seem to be getting worse and worse?

I mean I'm really not into politics so I don't know much about it but like the choices seem to be choosing the least bad person. Meaning most candidates or political people I see on media don't seem to be very nice humans or intelligent at all. Is this the best we have? Really. That's just my thoughts and I'm probably way off track

Our leaders are a barometer of our society. Every nation since the rise of man has had good times and bad and good leaders and bad. If you read the biography of Andrew Jackson, he was accused of bigamy. Quite the scandal in his day as it would be today. But in his day you had no internet you had no radio or t. v. information traveled slowly. And this is the point DISINFORMATION traveled slowly as well. Negative ads work. This is why you're bombarded with them every election. It's much easier to paint your opponent as a morally bankrupt person then it is to elevate your own character.

Let me tell you as someone who's getting close to 50. Nothing ever really changes with human nature. Society may change. It may rise and fall. We may go through good times and bad times. But people as a whole don't change. And if you don't believe me take the lords word for it.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 "what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun".

Basically this passage is just telling us a 1000 years. From now our society will evolve and change. But human nature will not. So take heart. Things are not getting worse. Nor are our leaders It's just the evolution of society.

I get that you're really not into politics. This reads harsh but it's not meant to be but just honest feedback.

If you're admitting you don't know much then my suggestion would be to learn more so you do. Then from there you can answer this question without relying on the opinions of others that might not be any more educated about the topic than you. I think it's important that you educate yourself more because it is important. You don't have to go down rabbit holes and consume yourself completely to do this. Good luck.

there's no such thing as a perfect human being much less a perfect politician

it doesn't matter who you think would make a great leader even if that someone is yourself because everybody has flaws that be exposed

plus politics is a dirty business. you can't please everybody and you can't fix everybody's problems

Here in the US it has gotten far worse than ever before. But the solution is to vote both the Democrats and Republicans out of power in all levels of government. This foolish, archaic idea of voting the same people over and over again from the same two political parties into office has got to stop if this country has any chance of mending itself.

IMHO, an effective ratio could be 30% Democrats, 30% Republican & 40% third party candidates.

US politicians seem to be getting worse and worse IMHO. I'm not sure why but when I vote in the next presidential it will be for someone I can't stand just a little less than I can't stand their opponent

You're not way off track. Having fallen into a 2 party system it has slowed for the radicalization of the parties where you wind up voting for the least worse option to keep the other guy out of office.

I think part of the problem is because it's all about money and power. People are selfish. Our leaders are getting to be more and more selfish.

No, you're not "off track", you're 100% spot on! Political candidates over the last 35 or so years really have been getting worse.
