Insofar as Saddam's still dead, though, THAT war, too, was won- are you under the impression that wars only count as successful if there're bunnies and rainbows for everyone afterwards?

These days "win a war" is not that well defined. Any war between the big nuclear powers like US, Russia, China ends with everyone loosing. I think the US could win a convention war against Russia, but such a war would go nuclear. China is less clear.
The US can win a conventional war against Iran or N. Korea. But a war with N. Korea would not stay conventional and the losses would be unacceptable. Even if the US won a conventional war with Iran, we could not win the peace - it would be like Iraq and Afghanistan but on a larger scale
It won't take USA more than a day to make these 2 countries vanish from the map
