What do you think of apps that warn of police roadblocks?

Apps such as Waze. Many people find it useful, but there are also critics that say using an app that warns you on police presence can aid criminals in their activities.

If they're going to report on traffic, they're going to report on police roadblocks. If you really want people to follow the rules of the road, you need to enforce them- completely. When driving five miles over the limit in the right lane doesn't you honked at for being too slow, I'll take these complaints seriously.

I can understand that.
What I find annoying about police roadblocks is that they always stop me not because of the way I drive, but because of my car and they want to look at it and I'm in a hurry.

I think it’s fine. If police wanted to be an actually deterrent rather than just collecting fines they’d be out where we can see them.

In the UK the police itself actually reports roadblocks that aren't even there to get people to behave.

Don't know about other states, but here in Illinois the police have to publicly announce scheduled roadblocks, it can no longer be a surprise.

They have done that to in a couple cities in Connecticut. Location and timeframe.
