I know no sites are 100% safe but do you think a neighbourhood app/site is the right thing to join?
Are neighbourhood sites/apps safe?

ABSOLUTELY not! …well, I don’t know if they’re safe, or not — but they are like a local version of Facebook, a microcosm of strife & resentment. They are SUPER creepy & if you opt out or get banned, they paint your house on the map with a glaring red icon. They talk a big game about inclusion & how easy it is to be in the know, but I quickly found out that there were A LOT more stupid people in my area, & everyone spied on everyone else — it was a forum to talk shit, ask about who’s car was parked where, & trade stupid ring videos of ‘suspicious people’ passing through the area. It was a total toxic mess, with idiots getting super triggered & if your opinion isn’t liked by the group, someone will hit the panic button, & just like that - you’re in next door timeout.
I know all this firsthand because it happened to me!
People on Nextdoor are a-holes.. Pretty much everywhere I've lived. (Bay Area, California)

They're safe, but I see most neighborhoods use them to advertise things or talk politics, instead of actually talking about what's going on in that neighborhood.
I read on Facebook that nextdoor was a bit dodgy and i was wondering what others thought.
I joined that site but decided to leave, but they won't let me. I still receive spam emails from them all the time, despite many requests from me telling them to stop.
@Tamera952 Exactly
Think I’ll pass then.
