Does anyone else think people who think animals are like children are sick?

I know some people who think they are children and I think they are mentally unhinged.

Nah. People and pets become very attached to each other. I, personally, like cats better than I like dogs or children. Dogs and children are too high maintenance and needy for me, and they require training and socialization.

Animals have personalities and emotions. It's not unreasonable to think of them as family members, love them deeply, give them the best lives possible, and feel great loss when they die.

The only thing that's revolting is when people anthropomorphize them and treat them like babies, dress them up and use baby talk as if they are infants.
Although my wife and I do talk to our cats and sometimes put words in their mouths just for fun. And animals do respond to vocalization. They even learn to recognize certain words and phrases.

Well I can tell you this I don't think of them as children but they are part of my family I will protect them as if they are my children or my family because that's what they would do for me is unconditional love when you have a pet it becomes a part of you it becomes something that you love and that you will protect and keep out of harm's Way so if that's thinking of them as a child then I guess I'm one of those people because I don't care if it's your pet or my pet if I see somebody hurting a pet I'm going to make sure it stops

But in the same breath if I seen a dog hurting somebody I would kill that dog in a heartbeat I've been bitten by a dog before and it's no fun I would kill the dog straight up I don't care whose dog it was

I can say yes and no to this question. There are owners who treat their pets like a person, dress them up, talk to them like it's a baby. I do find that a bit strange.

But then you have the group I find acceptable. You have owners who take good care of the animal. Look at what it actually needs, train it well and give it a fulfilling life. Often these animals are raised from when they were only a baby. Just like an actual human child, the animal needs help like protection, food, water, guidance. Just like a human child, that animal needs you and trusts you. So I can see how some of these owners feel like it's their baby. Not in the literal sense, but they were there from start to finish, they raised it, shaped it to what it is now.

Nah because animals mostly pets are like children. You taking care of them and they are mostly dependent on there owner to feed and water them, check up’s, a place to sleep, and to love. Doing pretty close to a child to me it just there a different species or animal lol.

uh no that's just YOU who's mentally sick and unhinged because that animal is a living creature has life a living being and needs someone to take care of it. do yourself a favor don't get any pets and don't have children you're to far gone mentally and emotionally and mentally unstable go seek psychiatric help for your own sake and the safety of others around you
