Do you believe that master criminals exist?

Been watching heist films, do you believe that the criminals like those in heist films are real? I mean master criminals. What do you think?

I heard about these jewelry thieves that are apparently pretty successful but I think today you can steal more money by being good at lying and selling people on something than actually stealing physical goods. Personally I don't fancy living a life where at any point if things go wrong I could get imprisoned and lose everything I worked my entire life for that doesn't sound like a life that I'd enjoy to me. Maybe if I get bored af of life but atm that's not the case.
