I believe that some people commit crimes not because they're evil but out of desperation for survival or to feed their loved ones.

I, personally cannot condone criminal behavior for any reason. When you use "survival' as an excuse for crime... I don't know what that means... I could kill to protect myself, or someone else, from a would-be criminal, and in order to 'feed their loved ones' ... there are legal ways to do that without omitting a criminal act. i. e. stealing, etc.

A 'criminal' is just that... a criminal. I have been involved in Law Enforcement, so I know of what I speak, and have been involved in Social Work.

It is a REACH to say that committing a crime is EVER necessary for one to survive. I know persons that have had to live in their car... but did not ever commit a crime to survive pr feed a loved one. I cannot use the word "EVIL" for someone that commits a crime, BUT IT STILL MAKES THEM A CRIMINAL

I think of a criminal's fate as written early in their life story, causes I think of:

• Raised by criminals
• Raised in poverty (modernity version)
• Specific mental illness
• Cognitive impairment
• Glorified crime influence (mafia, narcs, gangs etc)
• Raised in abuse

No, all criminals are not evil. People can commit crimes for many reasons. Evil, stupidity, poverty, hunger, self defense, lack of maturity, disagreement with a law, etc. Speeding is a crime. Who hasn't exceeded the speed limit umm... once or twice?

No, not all criminals are evil. As another user stated, one's actions could be out of desperation. Others may be mentally ill or experiencing an episode that brings them into the hands of law enforcement. Sadly, jails have become the defacto psychiatric "hospitals" due to the deinstitutionalization movement. But instead of receiving proper treatment, they are mishandled and then released back onto the streets. It becomes a revolving door.

Any ''crime'' that does not harm an individual person directly... is legal to my own understanding.

Thus, many criminals aren't criminals.
