Testosterone is a male hormone which can give men the ability to be physically stronger than females

Biological females have two XX chromosomes

This cannot be changed after birth

There is types of syndromes where a person can be born with XXY chromosomes. This is called Klinefelter syndrome.

Biological males, which is what transgender "females" really are, should never be allowed to compete in female sports. It's not just about how much testosterone they currently have, but rather the effects of testosterone on their bodies and minds throughout their lives. A man who grew to be 6'2" tall with broad shoulders and powerful muscles does not simply lose all those physical attributes when he decides to become a "female".

Yes I do. Having male genes, even after surgery and hormone therapy, gives a transgender woman a physical advantage over a biological woman. Some sports are thinking of creating a third category for transgenders, and that may be a good thing to do.

So…difficult topic. It certainly warrants a conversation. I just feel like the conversation has to be had in a certain way.

Number one of all: the decision can’t in any way be made based off of anyone’s outward or internal feelings about transgenderism or transgender people. Stick to the facts of the biological advantages that a trans woman born with a male body would potentially have over your average competitive athlete who was born with a female body. This also will require some leniency from the trans side of the table, and not being sensitive about talking about their old selves.

I think it’s also important to remember how small-scale of an issue this really is, even compared to something more universally applicable to trans people such as which bathroom to use or having gender neutral ones available, that affects everyone. But athletes? Even at the youth or high school level where there’s the highest rates of participation in female sports, I would guess it’s somewhere between 25-40% of girls.

I don’t think we have hard numbers, but using the easy round number of 1% of people being trans is probably an overestimation, but let’s use it. Let’s assume that means about.5% of people are M-to-F trans. If 40 of 100 girls are athletes, before we even get into how many will even play college sports, .5% of 40 is.20. We’re talking 1-in-200 IF every single trans female even plays sports. I’m half asleep so forgive me if my math is wrong, but if we apply a rough 40% of TRANS females to the total TF population, .20 x.40 = .08…. I’m literally fighting to stay awake, lmao, but without further calculation, we’re somewhere in the neighborhood of 1-in-1,000.

And a lot of the people leading the charge are the same kind of people who trash women’s sports, certainly at collegiate and especially pro levels, so I’m not really buying it when they try to make it an issue. Go read a comment section under a Britney Griner article when she was locked up in Russia. Endless jokes basically about her being a man, having a big ol’ dick, etc. And at best, they don’t take the WNBA the least bit seriously. So it seems a little disingenuous to all of a sudden be so concerned with integrity and competitive balance, lmao. But mostly, keep in perspective that this isn’t some pressing life or death issue, we’re talking about high school field hockey and shit, lmao.

Anyway, if a legitimately respectful and mutually considerate conversation can happen, I think that’s the biggest step. Approach it as a legit dilemma and not as an oppression opportunity, lmao. There may need to be physical parameters set that determine whether they play with boys or girls. There may need to be a whole paradigm shift to a third division for M-to-F athletes. It’s all up for conversation. But I can’t imagine why we can’t figure this out in respectful and compassionate manner for all involved.

(My math might be totally jacked, I’m fading fast, but the point is, it’s a very small number of cases we’re even talking about)

I think if you are going to designate a sports league to be for women, then only women should compete in that particular sports league. If you want men and women to compete in the same sports league, then designate it open for all. There are age groups for a reason, weight classes for a reason, sex segregation for a reason, and skill level segregation for a reason when it comes to sports. You want to have the same sorts of athletes competing with each other to put on a fair game. It's the same reason 100 LB fighters don't fight 250 LBB fighters or why children don't play in the NFL against professional athletes. Without fair competition, it makes for a bad show and zaps all the fun for participants.

There are many other chromosome disorders such as X, Y, XXY, YY and basically whatever combination you want.

More importantly however, there are "biological women" that have male bodies including the ability to impregnate other women. There was some news article about an example of this where a man lived a completely normal life with a family before they actually found out they were biologically a woman and even had ovaries or something like that.

Point is that defining the gender by the XY and XX chromosome is an act of utter futility and demonstrably wrong since our biology is a mess and does not follow instructions very well in the first place. Even if you give it a blueprint of a "man", you might very well end up with a woman instead.

If you want to continue separate men and women into sports then you need to find a different criteria.

Intersex people are born with organs and genitals that don't fit into a male/female sex binary.
Most transgender people are not intersex. They are born with male or female bodies and organs but just emotionally feel they are the opposite gender
