This is not a commie takeover of the rich, or because I can manage wealth better. I actually agree with you that in some sense, the top 10% are better and in fact help keep the government in check, which is a good thing.

But the government, aka America, needs to be funded. Like cops, firefighters (wanna go to Maui?), highways etc. Federal budget to the states was 5 trillion, which they got mostly from the states…ie redistribution of wealth. NY gives $10 for every $1 they take, for instance. The Bible Belt is the opposite: $1 for every $10 they get from the Fed.

So federal budget is necessary for America to survive. Where do we get this money? We can either squeeze the bottom 70% of citizens for govt money, OR lightly squeeze the top 10% to pay what they should patriotically.

Everyone pays taxes its just a question of to whom, Goverment only likes to tax the rich because its far easier for them to use the relatively few rich as Tax collectors. Something has to be done about the people who have more money than they would ever need in 1,000 lifetimes. They didn't exist 50 years ago. You had the guy in your city who had the really nice house and a Cadillac and that was it. And the world had Howard Hughes.

But tax isn't the answer. That tax money will never get to the people who need it. Somehow the average person needs to be able to work 40 hours and afford a house and a car and groceries and the things that go along with that. The people with more education and skills and experience can live more comfortably, and the people at the top can live luxuriously but not with all this obscene excess money that drains it from the rest of the economy. It has to be evened out somehow.

I understand that some of that big money makes it possible for companies to hire people, but not the money in the personal pockets of those mega-billionaires.

Example There was a local vote recently to add 58$ to our property tax which would go toward the recreation center so that kids so they could play soccer football baseball basketball learn to swim get lifeguard certified that’s all local. I voted yes because it’s my community and the community has a role to play in the communities lives. There further out you get from that the less relevant community becomes if it was a state vote I would have voted no. Why because I don’t think my states has the best interest in my values or me as a person. I know the federal government doesn’t care about my interests or values all they want to do is control how my life is run. The more local you get the more relevant government becomes in your life.

A lot of the roads were built by private companies, Like Cyrus Avery, who is a large businessman, saw the need for an enter state highway and belt Route 66. It wasn’t until Eisenhower when he built interstate highways. Most of the police was paid by the local governments not federal. Under my plan there would be a lot more localism and billionaires would pay for the highway and bridges because it grows there businesses helps there local communities. I heard an economist say that most of the tax plans that aim at the 8-10 figures type of wealth really just hurts people in the 6-7 figure range.
