Of the four cases currently being investigated regarding former President Donald Trump, Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard law school emeritus professor, said the Manhattan hush money probe is the weakest by far.

“They went through all the statute books and they couldn’t find anything. There was no misdemeanor, there was no felony,” Dershowitz said. “This is the most contrived, made-up crime I’ve seen.”.

He said he has never seen a case anywhere like this, or a greater abuse of prosecutorial discretion, in the 60 years of his career.

Dershowitz, who said he did not vote for Trump previously and will not in the future, also defended President Biden from recent calls for his impeachment.

The point of the indictments is to get justice. Trump really did try to overturn the election. The plan was hatched before election day and was the first time the office of president was not peacefully handed over in the history of the country. The punishment should be appropriately harsh.
