I've heard the phrase going around, I've heard it as blamed on women, as if men are lonely because women don't want them. But then where is the female loneliness epidemic because women can't find men they want? There doesn't seem to be one.
So if more men and women than ever are without romantic partners, yet only men are having a "loneliness epidemic," then wouldn't it have to be because men aren't friends with each other the way women are? That's the most logical explanation I can think of.

Those aren't two sides fighting for their own rights, they are two sides fighting over whether one of the sides gets rights. Social stigma is still very much against women in general. Yes, more often men who are abusers are getting backlash, but still often they don't get backlash. Men do need to be seen differently in many ways too. But in no ways are the changes that need to happen mutually exclusive. Men can be seen as potential predators, and also as potential victims. Same for women. Men and women can both be supported. It is never a fight over which one.

As you get older there are fewer opportunities to make friends. people do not stay at their jobs for life anymore and in most neighborhoods people move every few years. Guys get busy with their careers and raising a family and don;t have the time to have friendships.

Sorry I don't understand. What makes loners bad is that society doesn't think they're bad? Social anxiety of course should be worked through, but I don't think it's always something you can work past. Sometimes it's a condition, like an irregular heartbeat, you just have to work through for your whole life. I think people around you being sensitive to it can help a lot for you to be better and more productive around them.

I'm talking about people who have anxiety disorders. "Soxial anxiety" is an actual disorder you can have. You can get diagnosed with. Just like a deformed arm or diabetes. People have always faked conditions for attention, that doesn't mean the conditions are any less real.
And it's the "fakers" that are being encouraged by society that lends itself to the current loneliness epidemic. You wouldn't have an "epidemic" with a small minority of the population having these supposed disorders.

I don't know. I didn't have friends in the 90s. But it's clear men and women are friends differently, and that's really the biggest difference I can see in what can cause loneliness. I've heard that men weren't always so tough-guy and scared to be close, but I don't know if that's true. It could be similar to the anxiety in that men have been lonely for a while, and now they just recognize that that's not normal and maybe it doesn't have to be that way?
Or maybe they've gone for an easy out of porn, simping for OF girls, doordash and video games.
See but all those things just as easily apply to women too. So it's confusing to me that there's specifically a male loneliness problem, and not just the same loneliness problem for everyone.
