The “Male Loneliness Epidemic” Does Not Exist
The media panic around “male loneliness” is driven by cherry-picked statistics and sexism. Now, that’s sad.
My partner is my best friend. This is because I am terrible at making friends, and I admit it. I tend to have two intimacy settings — either “you are my best friend and I will literally love you for the rest of my life and then die for you” or “excuse me, sir, can you point the way to the restroom?” — and I never learned how to navigate that middle range where most friendships reside. I have a small child, so it’s hard to make time for people. I’m trans in a place where there aren’t many trans folks. I’m, like, really annoying.
It adds up, and so my partner is the only person I can talk to without freezing up or missing some crucial social cue or worrying that I sound like a dick. This is a stereotypically masculine problem, and it’s not healthy. People are happier when they have a broad support network. Relationships are easier when nobody has to shoulder the weight of being someone’s only connection to humanity. Nonetheless, we’re told, men refuse to cultivate platonic intimacy and dump everything on their partners. Men like me.
This is all to say: There are certainly things I can appreciate about all the recent coverage of the “male loneliness epidemic.” There are good things about the work being done in its name. Some of it is what feminists have been asking men to do for ages: Learning to process emotions in conversation with other men, instead of forcing women to do all their feeling for them, or talking openly about their trauma.
Nonetheless, “male loneliness,” the media phenomenon, is unsatisfactory. Even well-meaning pundits tend to cook their statistics and muddle their premises in a way that is ultimately misleading at best. For one thing: If you look at the actual numbers, the “male loneliness epidemic” does not exist.
Let’s begin, then, with those numbers. According to the 2022 Cigna Group report on the “loneliness epidemic” — worth citing, not least because it goes back a few years — “57% of men and 59% of women reported being lonely.”
Men and women are equally lonely. Men and women are equally lonely. In fact, as per this report…
I think that a lot of men are lonely because the family structure is all messed up. We're supposed to go to school get a good job. Meet a girl have a family and die old but that's not the reality. The reality is a lot of men don't have a purpose without a family. They just work , drink , workout and sleep. Men need women in their lives. But the women have mentally checked out. . So yes men are sad ASF. We were raised to have families and live a life of abundance but instead we get a billion OF models. Cheating wives while at work. High ass divorce rates. Child support. We are not respected anymore. We are disposable as long as we are doing something for somebody else. The family dog gets more love than we do. Men don't have a choice but to be lonely unless it's with the bros but even then... You go home and it's nothing. Empty. Meanwhile gay men have all the women they could desire. Ask youself why men are more lonely now vs in the past. Men are lonely because they are fed up and would rather stay in there own space away from all the bs than to get used and spit out. This is just from what I've scene and heard over the past few years. People want love but don't want marriage.
I think it’s real because of mental health issues. Self induced.
If you stay locked in your room. Never workout. Never see the light of the sun. Vitamin D depletes. Testosterone Depletes. You become a slob. And if you aren’t chugging chips or cheetos.. you become an undesirable skeleton. There’s no muscle mass. There’s no meat to give you a healthy appearance. And once you become a slob or a skeleton. Attracting the opposite sex becomes IMPOSSIBLE.
And so many men today. They are one these video gamers/ porn addicts.
Later these men think that getting money will get them a good, faithful woman who’ll love him. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. The golddigers are the worst women possible for a partnership. More likely to cheat and find a bigger castle.

Looks and Health is everything. You need to look appetizing in this world to win. Male or Female. But mostly Male.
He can dressed up as a woman and start escorting for other lonely men

No clue if that's a thing.
In my experience it's not that hard to find someone.
I'm a 33 year old, fat man, I don't have a lot of money, I have brain damage and use a mobility scooter to get around.
I treat men and women with respect and honesty and I'm just myself.
Somehow people are attracted to me, so for me it isn't hard to find someone.
Maybe it's my personality.
It’s not hard at all, yet you have guys that pay other guys to learn how to “get women”. It’s weird. It’s not hard but apparently a lot of men struggle with “getting women”. Reality is they probably struggle to get the women they prefer.
I'm a man who is lonely, I think it is my fault and because of that I'm someone that no one would want to be with or around. Weather its because of my financial status, emotional integrity, or failing self image, all it makes me think is that I should stay in my room away from people and find a way to placate my problems without burdening others with me. It feels like because I have problems and desperately need the love and acceptance of others from friendship and relationship that I am disqualified from having and properly maintaining those things.
Plus if that's the case then who cares? I don't imagine anyone who wants men to be less lonely would particularly want to become friends with a lonely and needy man.
Sounds like a depressing drag if you ask me, and I hang around me all the time!
I can only speak for myself. The older I get the harder it is to find someone. It is even hard for me to find someone to talk too. Life is just different for some people. Some guys will never have "money" if that is what attracts women these days.
Yep, tried dating apps?
Short answer is no. The long answer is, I don't think they would work for me. Reason: I have so many reasons I'm not able to list them all for you. But allow me to say this. I'm not a very attractive guy. Maybe I'm average in appearance. Those dating apps rely mostly on physical appearances. Also if you have heard of a dating coach by the name of Courtney Ryan, she said she tested those dating apps. Even switched her profile to male. She said, I didn't get very many matches at all! Switch it back to female and she got lots and lots of matches. Those apps are not fair to men. Lastly, I have been using the internet since 2002, trying to meet women. I've been on dating sites, social networking sites, in chatrooms, on forums, and just about any place other then gaming sites. And if do the math, I've been on here for 21 years! In other words I started out about 22 years old, and now I'm 44! I got to thinking about my learning disability and the issues it has caused me. I got to thinking about how I get treated by people. I've done research and concluded that I have a personality disorder. So even when I am around single females. Nothing is going to work. In a nutshell, I feel that 21 years of not getting anywhere is a sign that I should just quit. For the most part that is what I have done.
If you pay attention you will notice that the men calling you a "cat lady" ARE the lonely men.
Those of us who respect women and find value in them and are of high value ourselves bc we know that it's not a competition b/t us and women but rather that we can be great together... We get called things like simp and fuck boy but rest assured, at the end of the day, we're the ones getting pussy and not the ones complaining.
A guy goes MGTOW and he thinks he's a god. A woman chooses fur babies over a man and the guy freaks out and insults her. He's insecure.
Oh well it so depends on his personality and circumstances so it’s not set on stone that he can’t be lonely or that he is wanted So there is always a chance for a man to be lonely like a woman can!!
In my life I have met plenty. I could elaborate deeply but really the statistics of suicide, depression, and alcoholism kinda make the argument for me.
What about lonely women? Have you met plenty of them? Also I think you can be single and not lonely. But apparently guys don’t think that’s possible for women.
I sure have. I also think (as a general rule) women are more adept at communication and maintaining friendships then men are. I’m also not viewing romantic relationships as part of this question. It seems like a whole different issue to me.
I’m not sure how your concluding men don’t think women can also be lonely. How are you coming to that conclusion?
So you are finding it funny that there actually is male loneliness?
That's worse that most people don't even realise and aren't ready to acknowledge that males are also lonely depressed and unwanted..
What I find funny is how you guys try to shame women for being “lonely and old” when y'all are the ones who are lonely. Thats at all ages by the way. Never will you hear of a “female loneliness epidemic”.
So again you trying to say that females never get lonely 🥺?
The woke movement is ruining the balance in society, they turned genders against each other and went down hill from there
"But wait, I thought WE were the ones who were lonely with tons of “cats” and no man."
I have never said that but women are never attracted to respectful men so it is what it is.
I don't think anyone's lonely unless the choose to be
My opinion is male loneliness is self induced
I think a lot of times there is truth to that. Maybe not everytime but I do think there is truth to it.
I doubt it.
