I have rock quarries near me. A long way back there was hydraulic mining of copper. If the land can be sufficiently recovered, I would consider it. I also have 3 nuke plants within 50 miles. Nuclear power is by far the least polluting power source other than hydro-electric. Solar and wind will never satisfy power needs without rampant mining destruction and frequent brown outs. But technology is revealing new ideas every day.
Nuclear fusion is on the way. The wright brothers flew for 15 seconds and now we have al the aircraft we have. Nuclear fusion has lasted 15 seconds too. It's on the way.
Yes, maybe they will strike oil too
Well encouraging mining is a start. Ireland doesn't allow mining as the government gives away natural resources and exploits the people. Not like most countries where the country taxes the resources and it provides jobs. Ireland operates like an African government where the people are exploited.
If you’re a nation that uses nuclear power or nuclear weapons, it should be a no brainer to mine your own uranium. Relying on foreign sources could potentially be problematic.
Like France using 75% of its uranium from Niger
@Dargil If you’re talking about the U. S., no we don’t have enough high grade uranium to be self-sufficient but we do have licensed mines that are currently not operating. We could conceivably wean ourselves off Russian supply. Russia uses oil as a weapon and could do the same with uranium.

Um, if it wasn't being used for nuclear power, it'd be being used for nuclear weapons. You'd be ignoring the safest, cleanest form of power generation, as well as (potentially) the most renewable, for the sake of creating city-destroying deathdealers.
How would that be BETTER?
Yeah.. a tough sell in the leafy hills of Yorkshire too. Can't imagine many people wanting this on their door step.
well it provides high paying jobs. The fuel is exported elsewhere to places where they ALREADY have power plants.
Yeah, I'm pro-nuclear at all levels
oh ok well its your own opinion. I just want jobs in mining for my people. I hate nuclear energy. Anyway in 150 years we will have fusion plants to all other sources of energy will be extinct.
In 150 years we'll all be extinct,
Family, mining and power
Ahhhh…. no.
Ok why? your not using it yourself your exporting it. The mining is providing high paying jobs. We could have created a mining town. A whole town where everyone works in the mine.
Uranium is radio active isn’t it?
It's only like 1% of the ore of a rock I don't think it harms the environment. Now I am not a scientist but this is what I think. Aspestos harms the environment. The blue aspestos mine in australia, the town is a ghost town now.
. No.
No way
