I'm a big fan, corporations don't like it because the amount of initial investment needed before it profits. That's why they still stoke fear over Chernobyl and Fukushima, two examples where safety concerns were ignored.

It's potential for destruction cannot be ignored for extra profit, yet another reason why corps don't want it (ie Boeing) because if they fuck up by cutting corners the consequences are most severe.

I still don't understand why the left in France and Germany are so against it for ridiculous alternatives like wind.

Nuclear power is safe. Problems arise when the operators like Monty Burns try to cut corners to save money. I did a job for the local nuke plant. I went at 7AM to measure the guys for uniforms so the NRC inspectors would think that they would look more professional. One guy getting off shift was telling his replacement that they spilled some water bur mopped it up and dumped it down the drain. I was horrified. The guys spilled the water because they were goofing around and got careless

I have no doubt nuclear power is the cleanest energy source, right up until there’s a leak, a melt down or the reactors need to be decommissioned. And it is crazy to have built any nuclear plants in an area prone to earthquakes.
