Why isn’t the EU ever compared to economies as a whole?

As far as I'm concerned, it is indeed compared to other economies as a whole. As another commenter said, the EU is not the US. It's just not the same. Every EU member has it's very own economy with their own economic regulations and systems. For example, Bulgaria is basically a capitalist country while Austria is socialist.

I'm french, part of the EU. EU is not a country, but USA and China are. I would say EU is good for the wealthy, not for the poor, which is contrary to the egalitarian tendency of many people.

It is compared to economies as a whole... the problem is that the EU isn't actually that strong. It's a hodge podge of countries operating on harmonized but different regulations.

No, it's totally different. In the US we have each state economy functioning on the same basic body of law to move uniformly as one giant machine. In the EU, they have each country's economy operating more-or-less independently but cooperatively.

The states in the US are like a team of horses reigned and yoked in a line together in front of a wagon, or like individual pistons in an engine. Countries in the EU are having each horse individually hooked up to cart, where each horse's driver has signed an agreement to only spur their horse on when other drivers have done the same.

You are well aware of the exemptions to free speech in the USA and are also well aware that it is much more lax than in Europe. While I think the USA should expand free speech protections we are leagues above you Europeans where you are too cowardly to engage in the ppen marketplace of ideas. The First Amendment of the USA Constitution is not meant to protect popular speech lol, it is meant to protect unpopular speech.
