I believe in god and the bible says do not murder, do not sick revenge, forgive, turn the other cheek. is it possible that people responsible for the death penalty in America might go to hell.
- 3.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
u +1 yNo, it is not.
The Catholic Church has always, always affirmed the death penalty. In fact, Pope Pius IX, a Blessed of the Church (meaning he, at some point, will be canonized a saint) not only sanctioned the death penalty in the Vatican, but even personally ordered several executions.
If a society is to function and is to be moral and just, if the scales of justice are to be balanced, there must be a proportional response to an offense. If one steals, they must repay. If one damages, they must repair. If, therefore, one takes the life of another, then they forfeit their right to life.
The family members of a murder victim ought to forgive the murderer. However, the government, which exists to secure the rights of citizens and enforce laws, still reasonably has the right to execute a murderer after the murderer has been tried and found guilty.
It's not revenge, it's not a lack of forgiveness. It's justice.

Asker+1 ythe catholic church isn't god
- +1 y
It was established by God though; God the Son, Jesus Christ. Christ often used battle imagery in His parables, and yes, even the death penalty and execution.

Even the catholic church has acknowledged it's own corruption at certain times in history. It's pretty hard to argue certain things in the Bible were origional.

+1 yMost of the time no, but I think the burden of proof needs to be highrler. Wrongly accused people get that penalty way too often. The only time death should be the punishment is when it is as clear as day, there's no question about any of the details. Like a video or an impartial witness or a confession or everything went according to a plan which they found everything at his house written down and it falls into line with a pattern of behaviir/ beliefs.
All life is precious. Even if you're lost enough to be murdering innocent people. It should be viewed as an incredibly sad thing for us to have to resort to a death penalty.
The Bible says turn the other cheek but it also greenlights an eye for an eye. The idea is to seek balance rather than revenge.

Genesis 9:6
Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.
That is to say an account or reckoning needs to take place whenever a human's life was ended by man. The person who murders another person is to be put to death.
Treason refers to the betrayal of one’s own country by attempting to overthrow the government through waging war against the state or materially aiding its enemies. People die in war...

Basically when we started collecting dna and later on better ways to analyze it. It's probably closer to 30% innocent people getting killed for nothing.
It's just bad for the state to have that power.

Asker+1 yexactly and killing is a sin doesn't matter what the reason is. the bible says you shall to kill. it doesn't say you shall not kill apart from if the person did this or that. what jesus teaches is that the new testament is right. and that we should forgive.
+1 yThey might, yes- but not because of that. Recall that the Bible itself not only encourages but MANDATES the death penalty for such extreme crimes as planting two crops in the same field, or wearing blended fabrics.
Legal executions may or may not be moral, but they're not inherently sinful- at least as per Judaism.

God Says to Kill Criminals, the Old Testament is How God Truly Is, Jesus is a Man, not God.

Asker+1 ytwo wrong to make a right. you can stop evil with evil and not everyone who is put to death by the death penalty is evil. jesus went through the death penalty he wasn't evil. many innocents also were condemned. only god can judge people and maybe all those murderers aren't evil. a lot of them are victims of hard childhoods and just need a bit of love. we all deserve forgiveness. and once again to wrong don't make a right. someone can't say the murderer is bad and commit murder themselves. because the death penalty is murder.
Asker+1 y*two wrong dont make a right

I agree with you, jesus is different, jesus haven't made any bad act, jesus did everything good to humanity unlike ordinary people who are pure evil who commits crimes and hurt others, forgiving someone ain't eady at all especially if the did something very wrong or very bad like killing someone you love or being a terrorist, it's hard to forgive such people especially that such people do never ask for forgiveness...
People who have real faith in god cannot hurt others in the 1st place...
Asker+1 yjesus came to teach. and when he was on the cross he ask for forgiveness for the people who put him and two murderers to death. he taught against punishment. i believe if he was here he would be against putting people to death and would teach us to forgive them. god is watching and honestly i believe god wants us to forgive others and not put them to death. sure its not good to kill but we are not judges. we shall not judge we shall not murder. we shall forgive. the death penalty is completely against the bible.
- +1 y
True but in the end we are humans, we aren't perfect like god
Asker+1 yjesus asked for forginess for the people who didn't know what they were doing. i think if we know what we are doing is bad we should ask for forgivness ourselves. its bad to judge people its bad to wish death on someone not matter what they have done and its bad to sick revenge.

But if there are no laws and no punishments, the world would become a chaos and it will also become a dangerous place to live in...
Asker+1 ythere are other ways of stopping evil other than with the use of evil. i live in Europe and there is no death penalty and there are less problems than in america. Even here there could be some improvement in the legal system to make it nicer for people.

are you familiar of the murder of Skylar Neese?
Asker+1 yi just looked it up and yes its messed up but all of those girls were kids. they were always on there own getting up to to things. Where were the parents? apparently there were bullying blackmail and lesbian sex going on for years and those girls were all teenagers. to be honest the parents should have been more involved with all those kids. none of them were executed but i think even the 30 years sentence was unfair. young people should be watched more closely by responsible care givers.
- +1 y
the lesbian angle was only alleged but Skylar was raised to be open and this doesn't fit with what is known. how many times were you told that you can't stab someone to death just because you don't like them? Shoaf had remorse but Eddy did not. here's a episode of Dateline about this very case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7aDqv8w2xc
Asker+1 yfrom what i know kids who commit crimes often have a personality disorder such as sociopathy and this is often caused by neglect. those girls were definitely neglected and were left to live like adults when they were just kids. young people should not go to prison they should be put is some sort of institution with access to normal life and therapy.
- +1 y
they murdered someone who considered them friends because they didn't like her by stabbing her over 50 times. this was not a crime of passion. here is what is known about Rachel Shoaf: abcnews.go.com/.../story?id=24597419 and from what I've read about Eddy--she was spoiled by the mother: ''Shelia’s mother has filed the motion in Monongalia County Circuit Court and claimed that her daughter is not guilty in the July 2012 Skylar Neese murder.''.
Asker+1 yi see its not right but honesly they should put the girls in some kind of rehab. when i was a teen i made a lot of bad choices as well. not as bad of course but when i look back there are many things i did and sayed that i feel ashamed and regret. teenagers make mistakes. they should be given a second chance. or if they are going to be imprisoned for life at least in a place where they have a proper flat and and shops and hairdressers so they can life a normal life. prisons structures should be completely different to how they are.
- +1 y
Eddy killed without remorse. what do you honestly expect? a second chance? not many would ever feel save with someone like Eddy walking free. what do you think rehab would do to someone who killed a friend by stabbing her over 50 times because she didn't like her and made tweeting things like this: twitter.com/_sheliiaa/status/311916259598036992
Asker+1 ymaybe she is demon possessed. what you are saying is true but there are other cases that are unfair. At least prisons should look different. if they gonna be locked up for the safety of others doesn't mean they should live in awful conditions.
- +1 y
It ain't supposed to be a vacation. I don't have any empathy for such people. I watched another episode in Dateline where this guy raped and savagely beat and murdered a girl loved by her community. He was so sure that he able to walk... he was beaten by guards and committed suicide... I got no empathy for people like that at all. I don't consider myself a cold person... but, some are just monsters. You watch a few episodes of Dateline and you'll think back to Alfred's story from the Dark Knight.
Asker+1 yi been watching a lot of those stories on youtube as i myself have met a a few murderers and personaly the only difference with them and the average person is that they kill people. there are so many "normal people" who emotionaly abuse people people and are walking the streets free. locking someone up is emotional abuse. if your neighbour locked a murderer up for thirty years in his basement he would be classed as abuser so why is it ok for the government to do it. even if he sayed to the court that the guy murder his daughter he would still be condemned. and prison doesn't just have murders. what do you make of a poor man who stills a pair of shoes and is locked up. would you think its ok for your neighbour to lock a man up for a month who stole shoes from him. and what about legalised murder like army. why do those men who kill children for their country get medals and others get 30 years in jail. it is still murder.
- +1 y
It almost sounds as if you want murders to not face any consequence. Such soldiers are often disciplined and dishonorably discharged like those that Trump pardoned.
Asker+1 yi dont think murderers should go to prison. there should be a kind of secured campus almost like a secure miniature city where they can live a normal life and get therapy. people should also learn to protect themselves better and their children. sosiopathy and psychopathy should also be classed as mental illnesses. i find it funny how doctors diagnoses people with personality disorders and claim its not a mental illness. see how dumb that is.
- +1 y
They are considered mental illnesses: www.google.com/search
Asker+1 ythat why can't they pleed isanity with it?
- +1 y
because wrong is wrong. this plea has been abused and it's used to trivialize the event do you remember David Long?
- +1 y
now, there are more obvious cases like this: www.cbsnews.com/.../ while compassion might be warranted--the law still must applied.
Asker+1 yno one is there right mind would commit a serious crime.

That doesn't mean that they should avoid accountability.

Asker+1 yso much hate. why so much hate?
- +1 y
Better question why you love devils?
If you love righteousness then by default you should hate evil.
Wicked people need to be put to death, not living among us.
That's what God believes and teaches in His word.
Asker+1 ythat is a good question i often ask myself my do i love evil men who hurt me and abuse me stalk me and scare me. i ask myself this question everyday. i think i am too loving and i feel empathy for them. maybe because i had a hard childhood myself and when i hear stories of there childhood being abused neglected hurt i can relate. on the other hands i believe god is the judge, god forgives who he wants and god can put anyone to death himself as he wishes. he doesn't need humans to it for him. when people but to death murderer they become murderer and are therefore evil.
