The purpose of that is political not practical. The order will be found unconstitutional but it scores points with the Governor’s voting base. The only way to really stop gun violence is to reinterpret the second amendment as a right of the state to arm its militia or to scrap it altogether. Getting rid of guns in private hands is the only way to improve the situation. The illegal gun market is directly fed by the legal market….. straw purchases, stolen firearms, etc. A 30 day pause in carrying guns won’t do anything in the grand scheme of things but it will give the public the appearance that the Gov. is trying to address a tragedy, which is good for her politically.
