Why do people bitch about the government (no trust, etc) when in the west YOU'RE the reason why X or Y politician got into power anyway?

Seriously. Western / democratic society it is IMPOSSIBLE for any politician to get into power without being voted into power by the people.

So whyyyy do people bitch about politicians doing little or nothing - about not "trusting" the government, etc. - when YOU'RE the reason why the politicians are there or the government's a screw up. Either because you voted for someone for the wrong reasons, can't envision the "big picture" or long term scenarios, or sat at home rather than going & voting.

Because there's two sides of the government: the elected politicians and the non-elected bureaucrats. People will elect the politicians based on what the person says they'll do, but then they end up doing something totally different, usually based on stuff the non-elected people tell them.

We don't trust our government (s) because we know they say one thing and then do another.
