This is a clip of how horrible the Imperial Japan Army was in WWII. There is one particular guy with the glasses that seems shocked himself. He's ordered to kill a child and purposely misses all the stabs. Someone else does the job for him. Would he be kill or beaten showing emotions? That one guy didn't want to kill the child.

Usually units who commit war crimes and ethnic cleansing are cherry picked and highly indoctrinated pychos. SS, NKWD... imperial Japan had such "special" divisions as well. I'm pretty sure soldiers who didn't want committing war crimes were rarely forced to commit such ones.
He’d be killed. If your superiors are that mean to kill kids what makes you think they wouldn’t kill him? To them it’s a sign of weakness. Although you don’t want to be put in a situation like that there are kids who are fighting in wars too. So if some kid came out w a gun would he hesitate and show weakness in killing that kid simply because he was a kid? Possibly getting yourself killed or that of your fellow soldiers.
Not just weakness but insubordination. Both undesirable in a soldier.
@AngryCarl2 oh yea that too I forgot to mention that.
I hate wars.
The Japanese gave us no choice. They attacked first and wouldn't give up until getting nuked twice and Russia declaring war on them towards the end.
